This is such a great place to experience. Stop at the art museum and the science center. Walk around and enjoy the unbelievable and perfectly manicured grounds. They have beautiful ponds, fountains, and the buildings have stunning architecture with very special accents. Cranbrook is a must!

Most of the TA reviews were written by Michiganers, and local recommendations are worth heeding. Cranbrook is a multifaceted center for art, science and education. My favorites parts are the Art Museum and Saarinen House. The Art Museum has a fine collection and its exhibits are interesting. Saarinen House is beautiful, but you need to book a tour to see it. It's a must see if you're interested in mid-century modern design and enjoyable if you aren't. The Science Museum is well regarded. What impresses me most about Cranbrook is how carefully, wonderfully and gorgeously all of the buildings and grounds have been designed, constructed and maintained. In every season, walking or driving around the campus is a visual treat. Cranbrook is minutes from Birmingham, where you'll find plenty of fun restaurants for a post-visit meal or snack.

This place is very cute. While the exhibition was not my flavor the statutes outside were breath taking. I saw a few people taking family photos on the grounds. It is a stunning backdrop.

nothing to dislike, wish we had more time to visit the art museum maybe next time.....don't wait if you love fine arts, learning and science then go for a visit and have a great time with family and friends.

The Museum was closed to install a new exhibit, but that's not why I came to Bloomfield Hills. I was most interested in the house that Eliel Saarinen built, that Loja Saarinen helped furnish, and where Eero Saarinen grew up. The Saarinen House is only open for a few guided tours to accommodate a dozen or so. Our docent (who said she's the only one currently doing tours) was outstanding, exceptionally knowledgeable but far from stilted. The House has been restored to much the condition when Saarinen lived there and guided Cranbrook arts and crafts design. The attention to detain is impressive, with meticulous tapistries, intricately inlaid woods, and delicately decorated curtains. The Saarinen's all contributed to the look and feel of the House where they worked, entertained, and lived. The dining room is especially striking, with an expandable round table and exquisite chairs. The living space on the second floor was more austere than the public areas, but was cleverly designed to make it both beautiful and functional. As our guide noted, you can also see the very shower that Frank Lloyd Wright used (although the toilet seat is not original). I'm sure the Museum is worthwhile as well, and the Cranbrook grounds are stunning, but the Saarinen House is the highlight for me.

We love this museum. Always interesting exhibits. Small enough so kids don't get bored. We often take our grand kids for a visit. The grounds are gorgeous, and all in bloom on a summer day.

This museum is sometimes neglected by the locals, but it should not be ignored. They do an excellent job of showcasing meaningful exhibitions, presented in great formats. This museum is only five minutes from my house, and we try to get there at least every couple of months. We have seen some amazing exhibits and have learned so much. Definitely - go there!

Visit when an exhibit sounds relevant to you. Have gone about every 18 months for the past 10 years. Quality of presentation has been very good. Helpful attendants. And the surrounding outside area has fascinated me for many years.

I took my 5 elementary age children & it held their attention for all of 30 minutes. I would not recommend a year pass if you are thinking that it will be used more than 1 time.

The grounds are beautiful, especially in the spring and summer. There's art to enjoy inside and outside of the museum.

We attended a reception from school and visited the museum as well. Parking was full and we had to go a little far but it was worth to see all around. The scluptures outside were elegent and beautiful .I enjoyed the whole evening.

Spectacular grounds with sculpture, fountains, gardens, architecture spotlessly maintained. I think they comb the lawn. Small art museum with michigan oriented works. Loved the exhibit of lafayette park, my former residence. Extremely worth a visit. Place screams of class and priviledge, but the affluence is put to a purpose for all to appreciate.

Cranbrook is an American treasure, an incubator for some of the most amazing creativity in a wide variety of mediums. There really is no other Art Museum with a residential on site Masters academy like it in the USA.

The current exhibit relates to classic/modern Michigan-made furnishings that are still mainstream in homes and offices throughout the country (such as Eames chairs). It takes an hour or so to view the exhibits. As museums are typically "do not touch", the thoughtful designers who put this exhibit together have one room at the end where guests can sit in the art chairs and try them for themselves. Nice touch. I also liked the exhibit downstairs featuring the local works of Cranbrook grads.

Was visiting Michigan to see the art museums. Cranbrook is known for its arts education and wonderful grounds. The show at the time was very nice and interesting centering around Michigan's contribution to art and design. Space is open and clean and great for viewing art. Outside grounds are also interesting in its setting of Cranbrook. Worth seeing.
