I purchased a groupon to The Widow's Walk Ice Creamery and Bicycle Rentals that featured a two hour bike rental and double sundae of our choice, we arrived on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. We chose single bikes but you can request tandems. We traveled the bike path toward the Falls of the Ohio State Park center, then onto the George Rogers Clark Cabin. When we returned the bike, we were given our choice of any sundae on the menu through the terms of the groupon deal. For the record, the double sundaes are perfect to share with generous portions and wonderful ice cream choices. All in all, a great way to enjoy this scenic area and enjoy ice cream with the sunset as the back drop. What a romantic adventure.
Going from what was on this site I decided to give this business a try. Well it was great. We did a hour long trip out to George Rogers Clark cabin and Discovery Park and old Clarksville by the Ohio River. Great and then we wanted to continue on the Ohio River Greenway toward Loop Islands Wetlands but in between area is industrial and old car graveyard on Emory Crossings RD. Seedy looking folks even circled around us on our bikes in his car made for bad feelings so we turned around and headed back to business so we only spent a hour where we could have spent much longer. Otherwise a very good bike trip along the Ohio river.
The best two hours of our Louisville, Kentucky stay were spent directly across the Ohio River in Jeffersonville/Clarksville. Having grabbed a great groupon to Widow's Walk that featured a two hour bike rental and double sundae of our choice, we arrived on a beautiful Saturday morning to get our bike adventure started. The whimsical painted three story gingerbread structure is the hub of river front activity. From watching hawks fly overhead to following a piece of driftwood in the swirling waters of the Ohio Falls, this is a scenic site! Our bike choices were singles or tandems (only six tandems available). We choose singles and made the right choice for our biking excursion. We chose to use our two hours traveling the bike path toward the Falls of the Ohio State Park center. Bikes came with locks so we secured the bikes and went down to the river to explore. Beautiful drift wood of every shape and size were available to take back home. (We brought our rental car back after the bike ride and loaded up!) After the riverfront exploring, we got back on the bikes and took them through the woods on a meandering trail for the equivalent of about three city blocks. Beautiful woods, small path bridges, etc. We took some photos of the skyline of Louisville and the bridges across the Ohio. Overall, this bike trip was a blast! When we returned the bike, we were given our choice of any sundae on the menu through the terms of the groupon deal. For the record, the double sundaes are perfect to share with generous portions and wonderful ice cream choices. We chose butter pecan and chocolate and my husband even got a free taste size cup of black walnut ice cream (his favorite). Anyone desiring to rent bikes should make reservations as the crowds are picking up during the summer. Those renting bikes can also ride them across the river on one of the bridges and explore downtown Louisville or take them into the Jeffersonville area. All in all, a great way to enjoy this scenic area. Note: Rest rooms are located across the street in a public park area which is visible from the bike rental location.
