Derby Dinner Playhouse will present the regional premier of Bonnie 7 Clyde, showing February 17 through March 29, 2015.Everyone has probably heard of the infamous story of Bonnie and Clyde to some capacity... steeped in legend, rumor, and romanticism. Two unknowns from West Texas became American heroes, enemies of law enforcement, and one of the country's greatest love stories... all in the midst of the Great Depression. In this story of crime and survival, expect plenty of adventure, all served up Derby Dinner Playhouse style! The production will feature newcomers Madeline Perrone as Bonnie, and Michael McClure as Clyde. The cast also includes Derby Dinner favorites Sara King, Elizabeth Loos, Paul Kerr, Tina Jo Wallace, Matthew Brennan, John Payonk, and more.McClure is simply fantastic as Clyde, really breathing the spirit of his character into the role. His chemistry with Peronne (Bonnie) is just electric... as the audience is easily taken into the story... seemingly living each moment with the duo as it transpires before them on stage. Tina Jo Wallace plays the role of Bonnie's mother with a tender passion, culminating in an absolutely heart wrenching climax that has a good portion of the audience in tears. Wallace is brilliant, as she rides the emotional roller coaster that she has been strapped into by her daughter's fate.Bonnie & Clyde features a very non-traditional score, with an eclectic mixture of blues, rockabilly, and even gospel, composed by Frank Wildhorn. "Dyin' Ain't So Bad" is absolutely heartbreaking, while the performance is just filled with numbers that really pull at just about every fact of human emotion. The book was written by Ivan Menchell, with lyrics by Don Black. Under the musical direction of Scott Bradley and production of Lee Buckholtz, expect pure magic!Derby Dinner Playhouse is located in Clarksville, Indiana... right over the bridge from Louisville, Kentucky. It is a theater in the round, and has been in operation since 1974, making it one of the oldest and largest continuously operating theatres in the country! You will receive a top notch production for your ticket price, plus a delicious meal, served buffet style, boasting favorites like fried chicken, mouth-watering pasta selections, and a meat carving station. Some of the best desserts around are also offered, like the peanut butter pie or the brownie sundae!Be there early for the Footnotes, Derby Dinner Playhouse's very own musical spectacular, singing sneak peaks from upcoming shows, or additional selections connected to the night's main attraction.
As season-ticket holders, this is our get-away theatre experience and we love it every time. The talent and the plays they secure are always top notch and very professional. The food is okay but keeps improving. It's the whole experience that makes it so fun. Be sure to order a great dessert which is given to you at intermission. The servers are the best and you will love the experience over and over.
It's a Wonderful Life was the performance last weekend when my husband and I attended. The actors did a great job. Also, we found the buffet to be much more improved from previous times. We would recommend Derby Dinner to friends.
We drove from Maryland to Kentucky to see the show with friends & it was well worth the trip. This is the second time we've been & we'll definitely be back. The theater is beautifully decorated. The stage is in an intimate setting & you feel drawn in to the performance. The entertainers are absolutely first rate! The pleasant surprise of the experience is the food. It is the best buffet food we've ever had & rivals many restaurants for quality, freshness, & taste. The entertainers are the servers, so you get to interact with them before the show, during intermission, & after the performance. A must-do if you're in the area (or worth traveling for)!
We recently attended a Saturday night Derby Dinner production of "The Games Afoot". The setting is always intimate, and the productions always entertaining. Our party of four sat at a table for six and we were joined by a nice couple shortly before the start of the performance. If you don't like dining/sitting with strangers, they have tables for 2., 4 and 6, but those are based on date and performance time. the longer you wait, the more limited your seating arrangement becomes. The food was very good, as usual. The menu changes with each production. The carved turkey was moist and delicious. The pasta alfredo had a nice flavoring. Even the fish was good, and I'm not a fish person. The salad bar and vegetables were a fine compliment to the entrees. The meal comes with Tea, Water, and Coffee at no charge. . Desserts and soft drinks are extra, but well worth the cost. At least the Brownie Surpreme which I highly recommend as the perfect compliment to a very nice evening outYou can check out show times, ticket prices and menus at derbydinner.com. Highly recommend!
This was a delightfully funny musical which we were fortunate to attend in September with our son and daughter-in-law. The actors and actresses played their parts well and very professional as well as served us dinner! (I think they do everything including running the business). We have seen other plays here as well and have yet to be disappointed. Our son lives in Louisville and I think tickets to their children's Christmas show may be a great gift option for our grandkids. Shhhh, don't tell!
I love Derby Dinner! My family and I used to go here all the time but I'm sad to say that I don't get to visit very often now that I've moved. Our favorite memories here were going to all the different children's Christmas shows. The prices are reasonable and the shows are always well done.
Playing through November 16, The Game's Afoot will be sure to get everyone in the mood for the Halloween season, with chills and thrills around every corner!A Broadway star, who is best known for his successful role of Sherlock Holmes, invites his supporting cast to his castle for the weekend, while he is recuperating from a gunshot wound. While no one quite knows what to expect, they definitely don't plan on murder. Equal parts comedy and thriller, be prepared to spend an evening packed full of adventure! This plot has so many turns and twists that the audience is constantly kept guessing. And just when you think that you may have it all figured out, expect even more surprises! The casting of this production is absolutely brilliant! Brian Bowman is a clever William Gillette, the famous star known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, and his mother Martha (Rita Thomas) is spectacular in her role of his doting protector, who has a few tricks up her sleeve. Tina Jo Wallace as Madge completely chills the audience during a seance scene, with guests literally jumping out of their seats. And David Myers as Felix, Gillette's co-star and best friend, truly leaves the crowd breathless with laughter as he attempts to "dispose" of the victim. Joey Banigan and Zachary Burrell are brand new to the Derby Dinner Playhouse stage, and are completely intriguing as newly-weds, Simon and Aggie. And Janet Essenpreis as Daria Chase, and Elizabeth Loos as Inspector Goring are beyond fantastic, both literally filling the room with their powerful scenes and riotous exploits. The Derby Dinner Playhouse is located right in Clarksville, Indiana... just over the bridge from Louisville, Kentucky. My family & I visited the dinner Derby theater this weekend. We purchased tickets for the Games Afoot murder mystery comedy. However, there should have been a rating somewhere in the play description. There were numerous episodes where curse words were blurted out, some with great emphasis. A lot of talk about who slept with who, and lastly a "seance". At that point we quietly exited the show, following several other families that had chose to leave earlier. The food was good, theater was nice & clean, our server was excellent. I wouldn't have chose this show if I had known the content prior to purchasing the tickets.
A long-time entertainment favorite in the area, this dinner-playhouse has hosted top notch shows and well-known musicians, bands, singers, etc. We've set in various locations in the theater with excellent viewing from all seats. The buffet is always loaded with a great selection of food and desserts. Wine and beer are also available.
We are season ticket holders at DDP. The third installment of the Church Basement Ladies was exceptionally funny, as my jaws still hurt from smiling and laughing. The small cast carried the show without a hitch. Tina Jo Wallace is talented with physical comedy as well as verbal. Rita Thomas is convincing at a stuffy matron who takes a nip. Cary Wiger has the role of pastor down pat. Seated in the round, the show played to a full house. Clever to include the visiting groups into the opening scene as church visitors. No more spoilers! The buffet was very busy and the second line should have been left open longer to accommodate the large crowd. The line was the longest I have ever seen for the hot food which ran out too quickly - they had a hard time keeping it full. The fried chicken was nearly gone when I came thru', but it was too busy to wait for more & hold up the line. The sweet potato casserole was overbaked with little taste, but the spinach casserole was so good! Don't be deterred. The food is usually very tasty. The fried chicken and fish were very good as usual. I love the breaded tomatoes & wish I had their recipe! The salad bar is very fresh with a nice variety. We will be back again on Nov 9.
We had a blast. The play was about four ladies who worked in the basement of the Presbyterian Church. They have a new episode every year because the plays are so funny. Days later we were still picking out scenes an laughing. This was our first time at the dinner theater and we loved the experience. When you make reservations, you’ll be able to select from tables of four, six or eight. There are also some two person tables, I believe. But it’s fun to meet people from the area. After being seated, you make you way through the buffet. There was an abundance of great food. If you want coffee or tea, it’s included, for another beverage, there’s a fee. There’s also a fee for desert, which is served at intermission. We recommend the desert. Everything we had was yummy, especially the sweet potato casserole! Do yourself a favor and make reservations early to get the best seats.
Derby dinner offers an enjoyable evening of food and entertainment. I suggest your first trip to DDP be a comedy play. Everyone loves to laugh. Taken numerous friends to DDP always comedy first and they all want to go back. The food is above average for buffet food. Enjoy tables on left side of theatre best, but all seats are good.
We celebrated our First Lady's Anniversary today at Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville, IN. The play was "A Mighty Fortress is Our Church Basement" and it was excellent! The play was entertaining and funny. The actors were talented. Each one was a great vocalist so i enjoyed every song...plus the sound system there is awesome, so you hear everything even when they whisper. They even incorporated the name of the groups that were visiting into the play so that was special. The food was great as well. There was a selection of meats - fish, baked chicken, barbecue chicken, country ham, as well as mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potato casserole, etc. The salad bar was ample to make your own and included one of my favorites - broccoli salad. If you arrive early, don't fear...there are lounges, the gift shop and a large lobby for you to hang around in. Their bathrooms are very clean and there are plenty of stalls ladies. We paid $33 for a matinee ticket and it was very worth it. Just so you know, they do sell "adult" beverages at this location and you do pay for your dessert if you want one - they range from small sundaes (ice cream with a choice of topping) for $3 to a full size brownie monstrosity for $5.75. I had the cheesecake with strawberry topping ($5.50) and yeah...I'd totally do it again! For our play there were 2 acts and our table saved dessert for the second act...great choice. I'm thinking of doing a birthday party there....that's how much I enjoyed it. http://derbydinner.com/shows/mighty-fortress-basement/
We saw "A Mighty Fortress is Our Basement." We love the basement ladies series and anxious for the next one to come out. The food was very good. The desserts were extra, and they were great too. Great service and fun entertainment.
