i love this about small towns you get in and out in ten minutes. they are so lovely and nice here and have always been so accomodating to help me with car or lease or whatever i need. kudos ,

Wonderful old courthouse and still in use. Sadly, the main courtroom has been chopped up and is not as grand as it would have been when first built.The staff is very friendly. We walked into the main courtroom over the lunch hour. The judge's clerk came out of chambers, greeted us, and spent considerable time telling us about the building and its history.I had a surge of nostalgia when climbing the stairs to the main courtroom. I tried my first jury trial in 1971 in a similar courthouse in Bridgeport, California. I told the court clerk the story about my first trial and how only 10 jurors appeared in response to their summons as it was in the middle of winter storm. The judge sent his bailiff across the street with orders to "arrest" a sufficient number of citizens to complete the panel. The court clerk laughed at my story and told me her judge had done the same thing earlier this year.

IF you ever have to have a court date, this is the PLACE--sucks to be here, but the beauty of it is amazing. Before you enter and after you leave, you are surrounded by the beauty of Telluride--in and out of handcuffs. If there was a place to rate the jail, I would do that too.......

I never thought when we went to get our wedding certificate that we would have SO much fun with the staff! The building is beautiful and the pictures inside show Telluride from 100+ years ago. Definitely stop in when you are in town!
