spook cave

this was a great trip. There of course is the cave but there are many more things to explore here. The old water shed is great. The guides are very knowledgeable about the cave and the area. Thi is a cave so watch your head, there are low points and sometimes you don't know they are coming up. Great trip I would recommend

Just visited over the weekend and had a blast! Such a fun time and great experience! Highly recommend this attraction if you are in the area.

This was recommended to us by a fellow traveler and we found it to be a nice attraction. The tour consists of getting in a boat and riding through a cave with a guide who tells stories. The campground around the cave appears to be quite nice. The cave is natural with some embellishments. The boat ride can be a challenge for a claustrophobe for a short distance within the cave; however the water is ceiling plus shallow water considerations can overcome any anxiety. The tour guides are well trained for the job and there are passing zones in the cave for multiple boats. This is worth the while if passing through the area.

We had such a great time, and the lead on the boat was very knowledgeable about the cave. We had enough people to fill two boats and had a wonderful time. Did not stay at the campground, just went on the boat ride.

We stayed the night in their "Hut" small, but meet our needs. The beds are up enough off the floor that you can store your luggage and camping gear under them. It was just as advertised. Camp staff were friendly, and eager to help with anything. Fire wood was reasonably priced. Ice was to. Bathrooms were well kept. We had a fire pit, and picnic table. There was a creek just beyond the fire pit. My son and other kids had a great time playing in it. The cave was a little corny, but nice. The 6' crowed might not like the cave.

An exceptionally clean park, plenty ofspace between campsites. Friendly hosts, playground, and our kids even slept through the train! Would def recommend or stay again

We stayed in the camp ground with our two teenage children, and the entire facility was top notch. The grounds are very well kept and everything was very neat and clean. The swimming pond and beach was also very nice. The cave tour was also a neat experience and the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Prairie Du Chein is only about a 15 minute drive from the campground. We drove through a few of the other campgrounds in the area and Spoke Cave Campground was by far the nicest with the most to offer.

This place is what I would call a "roadside" must see. It is a very interesting tour with lots of local information and history mixed with folklore. We loaded up on the fishing boat with a total of 8 passengers and the guide. Our guide was a young man who did a great job of explaining the cave and the science behind the growth of the rock formations in the cave. He mixed his local knowledge and science with tall tales and humor. Well worth the trip. This may be uncomfortable for anyone who has a difficult time in a seated position, bent forward at the waist, touching your nose to your knees. There are several location where the cave is too low so getting into this position is necessary. Also, if you do not like small, confined spaces this will be a difficult trip as there are several small spaces and it is a cave. We were there with our two adult children (25 & 21) and we all enjoyed the experience.

Visited the cave with 6 teenage boys and they thought it was fun. Campy, a bit hokey, but all part of the experience. You get into a fishing boat with a small motor and the guide takes you through very narrow quarters while explaining things. You often have to bend yourself in half to fit through. This would NOT be an experience for anyone who is claustrophobic.

Our guide was knowledgeable and it was a great family cave tour. It was pretty cool to go in the cave in a boat instead of walk. It stays a constant 49 degrees in the cave and they have nice lighting in there to see everything.

Such a fun day. This attraction reminds you of a day gone by. Take a John boat into a cave and listen to the story of it's beginning. Our teens really enjoyed it. Be prepared to "duck" a lot as you enter the cave. The campground seems very peaceful. check out the working water wheel outside of the cave and a pretty waterfall as you enter the park.

It was an interesting ride although we wish we'd known about a third of the ride is spent with your head on your knees ducking to avoid low ceilings. Interesting and friendly guide. About a 30 minute tour for $11 adult cost

We went to Spook Cave for my daughter's field trip. The kids and adults had a great time checking out the cave. You go into the cave via boat. The cave is very short, so you have to duck down during parts of it. The guides do a great job explaining the cave. The tour takes about 35 minutes. They take you in and then turn around and you come out the same way. They also have a campground, which appears to be well taken care of. We plan on camping there sometime soon. We did not see the whole campground but from what we saw it is very nice. You can camp right on the trout stream that runs through the grounds. This is a great place to check out for young children.

Not a lot of cave formations. Very cool though, in that you go through in a small boat with a guide. You do need to be flexible to be able to lay down to get into the cave. There were hibernating bats (nice), but if you are bat phobic you might want to skip this as they are within arms reach. They water is oly a few feet deep. The cave is always 47 degrees, so you need a jacket.

I wanted my brother, who now lives out of state, to have an adventure he can tell his buddies about. Having never been at Spook Cave but driven by it many times, I thought, why not?It features a well-rehearsed tour of the history of the cave and one of the most unique ways to enter the cave-by boat! If you're a big guy like me(over six feet tall) or taller, like my brother is, then be prepared to really bend over at the entrance/exit of the tour. Once you are inside, it opens up so you can straighten up again. The water is cold, the tour guide is informative and helpful and the scenery isn't bad. The price is right on this cave. It also has camping and trails nearby. Of course, if you don't like tight places then avoid this place. Otherwise this is a really "cool" cave trip!
