This is a fun location and I need to remind ourselves that I don't go here for the great service but for hopefully, some tasty food and great outdoor seating on a warm sunny day, to watch the airplanes. Its taken me a two or three visits to recognize which food is really good and which definitely is just so-so.Remember, that the service is adequate, however the view is great and the food can be really good. I was brought here by a local and loved it. I had the corn beef hash with eggs a side of potato pancakes and a half order of Apple fritter French toast. The eggs and hash were excellent in the Apple fritter French toast was otherworldly.(good thing). The service was excellent and my only disappointment was the potato pancakes. They were actually deep-fried hash rounds not like the traditional potato pancakes I find in Wisconsin. The view of the airport with airplanes landing and taking off was very cool. Interiors decorated with aviation related items which made it very interesting and entertaining. Call to the FBO, announce turning final for runway one 8 Hampton and taxi on up to the cafe!
I use to love going to the Airfield Cafe. I would never give a restaurant a poor review due to wait times, however, my last visit there will be my last one for a while. We were told it would be 20-30 minutes before we were sat, but it ended up being 50 min. (not a huge deal)We ordered our food as soon as we were sat as we had plenty of time to decide on our meals. Our waitress grabbed us drinks, then never returned. The food took 45 minutes, on top of the 50 minutes we had waited for a table. I understand it was busy but all the waitress had to do was check in, we even had to get up to ask for more coffee. This all may have been understandable if the waitstaff were actually running around. For most of our meal the entire waitstaff was standing in a row, conversing by the computers. My girlfriend waved her hands for a solid 5 minutes trying to get their attention for a refill, eventually having to get up for a second time.On a happier note, the food at the airfield cafe is delicious, we were satisfied with our meals even after the long wait. We had a great time walking around the airfield and watching the planes land / take off. This was always my hidden gem, but it could use some front-of-the-house improvements.
This little diamond in the rough is the perfect place for breakfast! Great atmosphere inside & it's nice to see the 'regulars' hanging out. Good service & good food!!
Love going here with the grankids in the spring summer or fall. Sit outside and let them watch the planes. Good breakfast. A little expensive. Service is spotty especially if it's busy.
Good breakfast and lunch fare, friendly service. Watch the small planes come in to land and take off on the grassy airfield. Go up as a passenger for a flight around the field, Twelve years old and up.Enjoy an ice cream cone from the old fashioned " diner " style trailer parked by the grassy runway.
I'm a Harley rider, and this gem of a restaurant is just a few hundred yards' walk from Seacoast Harley-Davidson. Just the place to eat when the bike is being worked on. I'm an aviation nut, so the hanging models and actual airfield complete with Savonius rotor-type wind generator keep my ADD at bay while my wife and I enjoy the sandwiches, fish dishes and burgers. Worth a trip just to see the flight lounge upstairs and enjoy a quick, affordable meal (entrees under $10). Closes early at 2:00 so keep that in mind.
Waited 1/2 hour for breakfast and left after others who were seated after us were served. Called the next day and talked to the owner and he said his head waitress was out that day and things were slow. I mentioned the staff was bunching up outside and inside and caused more confusion. He said he would try to make improvemnts
Lots of fun! Great for families with small children.Stopped in for breakfast one morning and ended up staying for most of the day. Breakfast was great! Typical diner food. Service was friendly and fast. The day we stopped in the Hampton Airfield was doing their annual Flour Drop. It was tons of fun to watch. Two members of our party did the biplane ride and raved about it.If you are in the area, swing in.
Have some breakfast on the deck and then Take a ride on a bi-plane! It's great fun! And don't forget to pick the brains of the pilots hanging around... they have lots of experience and wonderful stories to tell....
While traveling with my husband along the NH seacoast, I looked up to see a biplane: "I've always wanted to do that." Using the magic of the i-phone we managed to contact the Hampton Airfield. When I called to ask if we could fly "um, like now?" a gentleman graciously said, "come on over; you can be up in the sky within the hour." He gave clear directions to the airstrip. There is no large sign. Their driveway is directly south of the Seacoast Harley Davidson dealer. It was a crystal day. What a thrill to feel the fresh air and look down with an astonishing birds-eye view of coastal waterways, the ocean, and the large and small properties dotting the landscape. Mike, the pilot, was completely laid back and friendly. He had outfitted us with the requisite 1930s caps and goggles. Before taking flight he explained what the journey would entail and what to expect in terms of the sensations and turns of the flight. I loved when he banked the plane to the right! It was like a thrill ride at Playland! I could have stayed in that plane for hours (more than that and one could go deaf...loud engine). Friendly, engaging people hanging out at this quaint airstrip to share stories after you return to terra firma. Put this on the proverbial "bucket list" if you have one!
First we went to the Airfield restaurant where you can get breakfast/lunch at outdoor tables and watch small planes takeoff and land. We saw this old Bi-Plane take off and gluide in for a landing. My wife thought it would be a nice present for her. I gathered brochure and called at a later day for reservations and found they were not needed. We could just show up if weather permitted and a pilot would be available. When we arrived we were given a cloth capp and goggles so that we would not eat bugs. The pilot told us what would happen from warmup to landing and there were no surprises. Beautiful ride over Hampton Beach and up the coast and back for smooth landing. Using our cameras pilot took our pics and we took pics from open cockpit.
This is a good place to go for a nice breakfast if you like to watch small planes take off and land. The food is okay...the coffee, not so much.
Great ride , great food, great service .All that needs to be said.
Nice little cafe right on the airfield for breakfast. Small planes and a grass strip. Piper J-3s still
