The off-road trail I'd pretty nice with both somewhat technical and by-passes for slightly older kids.
This site has a whole different complexion for me personally. It carries many memories for me as a small child around 50 years ago. My Aunt and Uncle use to own a house on that exact site that had a row of 20 or so cottages/rooms (I use this term loosely) that they rented and surrounded the back and sides between the house and river. This was not a particular great area of Wichita Falls as they rented the rooms to many drunks and vagrants. What is now the bike shop across the street was a once time a five and ten cent store with a small bar attached on the north east side of the building. The bank behind the house that dropped to the river was primarily a dumping point and I use to stand above it with my Dad,uncle's, and other male family member's as they would shoot rats that scurried amongst the garbage that consisted of everything from stove's, refrigerator's and even some old cars as I remember. This spot brings back some vivid memories from my childhood and some that were pretty unusual to say the least. Let's just say my Aunt slept with a gun under her pillow. After returning to area after nearly fifty years I'm glad to see that the bridge was saved and the area is a safe and cared for environment for those who use it.
A pretty good single track mountain bike trail. One of the more fun things to do in Wichita Falls. This trail is not built for speed though, Lots of tight, twisty, technical turns. I would not advise to go on these unless you are good rider or dont mind getting off your bike on some sections. Overall the trails are very fun.
I went to see the sculpture installation and then walked along the trail for a short bit. The sculpture is quite lovely if strangely out of place in this locale. It could have been when I went (weekday afternoon), but the place was deserted. There also isn't any sort of plaque explaining the sculpture as I found out the details in my hotel's tourism magazine after the fact.
I wish all cities had this extensive of a trail system. Wonderful riding with no worries about traffic!
I run on this trail every week. It can be busy at times with joggers/bikers but everyone is friendly. The folks that maintain it keep it clean and clear. If you park at the travel center it is close to half way either way you go. If you go right, you get more peace/quiet with more twist/turns and hills. If you go left, it is more flat with more traffic/sounds but still some twists and hills to contend with. If I'm not mistaken, it is 5.2 miles to the right and 5 to the left (back to the travel center). One of the best kept secrets of WF!
I've been mountain biking all over the US, to include places like Moab UT and Northern California, and I can honestly say that this was the most fun I've had on any trail to date! You won't find anything too technical out here, but there are all kinds of goodies to play on out there! Things like rope bridges, wooden plank trails, as well as a teeter-totter! You definitely will not regret a trip out to this trail, I promise!!

Headed out again today! Really good for all ages and experience levels. Win!
