I would not recommend staying at this place even though the place is beautiful the owner is very hateful and rude that alone makes the stay very unfriendly and unwelcoming. When I asked the staff “who is that person?” I was informed that he only likes a certain kind of client. Really looks like he would like the paying client based on the price he charges for one night.

We stayed in Lofthaven II for a special birthday celebration, and it was fantastic. The bathhouse, hot tub, waterfall and yurt bedroom were just like the pictures! We were sung to sleep by the sounds of crickets, frogs, a gurgling creek and woke up to an owl and other birds singing to the sunrise! I absolutely recommend an October stay due to the weather and migrating monarch butterflies that flock to the valley and creek bed. Everywhere we looked below the treehouse and zip couse were dozens of monarchs flying around or settling on the ground cover. Beautiful, peaceful and a lot of fun!

Went zip lining for the first time at Cypress Valley Canopy and really enjoyed the experience. Our guides were fun, knowledgeable, and made me feel safe in their guidance. The trees were beautiful and zip lining through them gives a great perspective on how giant and lovely they are. We will return!

I don't know if I'd go back, but it most definitely worth doing once, especially if you have never been zip lining or rappelling. The hardest part of the whole experience was finding the road to turn at. We kept thinking we had missed it. Hint: The intersection of 71 and Paleface Ranch Road has a light. Coming from Austin, there is a Paleface Ranch ranch along 71, but no light. Don't turn in there. The turn is beyond that. They do want you to have reservations. The adventure starts with check in. Then get some water and visit the restrooms, and wait for your group to be up. When I say group, I don't mean you have to have a group. You can book as an individual as I did. They put me in with another 2 true groups, but they were small, so, excluding guides, we totaled 8. I do advise wearing close toed shoes and if you are fair skinned, some sunscreen. Loose fitting clothes are also recommend unless you want to moon the rest of your group, as one lady in my group did. You don't need a hat, since you will be wearing a helmet. Since the fires in 2012(?), the canopy isn't very shady. When it is your turn, they have you walk across a narrow dam wall to a room where you get harnessed up and "mugged". Anything loose in your pockets or sunglasses will likely fall off, so they keep them for you. Seeing glasses are OK. From there, you walk across another narrow dam wall to the ground school area. There you get a few rules, the main one being don't touch the clips. Then you go for a short zip just a few feet off the ground. You get the feel for zipping, sort of. Mostly it is to practice breaking (you use your gloved hand; it doesn't hurt) and practice what to do if you stop short/over-brake. Overall, I felt this was really was the hardest zip of the course, but that could be partially because it was my first time. After ground school, you back across the bridge to where you got your harness and climb up some stairs to your first zip. As other reviewers mentioned, you have to climb on to a rickety stump while you get clipped in, but if you can handle the dam walk, this is nothing. Then you step down, wait for the all clear, and step off the ledge into the air. That first step is the hardest. The harness can be sat in something like a chair, or you can lean back, straighten your legs, and go for speed. I did the latter, but there is something to be said for having more time to look around. Some of the group hesitated at that first step, but by the end, I didn't notice anyone hesitating. I do recommend you go first if possible. There is limited shade, and the first few over get it. The others stand in the sun. After our first zip, we did go across a rope bridge. The planks are plenty far enough apart to put your foot through, so you do have to watch, and the bridge does sway, but no one in the group had any problem. Just take it slow and hold on to the rails. We did several more zips, and another bridge. We actually got back on the ground at one point and climbed stairs to another zip. This was a dual line, so we paired up and raced, although the left line is shorter, so it isn't a fair race. Finally we came to the last part, where we were taught to rappel down to the ground. It was a short rappel. I probably could have jumped that distance without serious injury. Still, it was a new experience. It was just as fun as it looked to me on TV, although over way too soon. Finally, once the whole group is back on the ground, we walked to the golf cart and got a ride back to the dam. There you get un-harnessed and collect your stuff. It took two hours overall. It sure seemed like only a half hour. Time flies when your having fun. If I was in the area and had some time, I might do it again, but the price ($75 + tax) means I won't go out of my way to go back. Still, it is worth doing once, especially if you've never zip-lined before. One final note: I never saw anything like the main picture for this place (the inside waterfall grotto). They had some interesting water features I did see, but nothing like that. Those I saw were all outdoors.

Took my son here and we both had a lot of fun. Nice guides. The place only has about 4 cables to zip on but they mix it up with rope bridges and the scenery is beautiful. It's a good thing to do in Hill Country

the staff was very patient with my 11 year old daughter who has a slight fear of heights, and helped her overcome that so she could enjoy the rest of the time. we had a great time!

Thank you so much for flying through the trees with us! We look forward to your return.

Beautiful setting with friendly & personable tour guides. This zip is for novices; people with any experience will enjoy the time, but feel unsatisfied. It is a bit pricey.Five short zips, two swing/sky bridges with a "repel" down (basically just gliding down a rope).I hope they add longer zips.

This was such a great adventure. My wife and her son did this zipline tour at the top of a huge/old stand of cypress trees, near Austin. The staff was very fun, yet professional. The zipline and obstacle courses were great fun. Even though we were ~30 feet up in the air the whole time, I felt quite safe. Well done!

We did the zip line tour, there were a total of 5 plus a rappel. The zip lines were nice, I would really recommend these if you are a first timer. If you are more experienced at zip lines, these may disappoint a bit. Had to hand break and had to keep hands on the trolley (I think that is what the equipment is called). I would recommend this place, it was fun and the staff were very nice. We didn't get the time to do it, but I might also recommend the nature tour, we had one of the nature guides on our zip line and learned a bit. I'd have no problem recommending a family trip or outing to Cypress Valley Canopy Tours. I look forward to some of the growth and changes they have in store. The bathrooms had sinks that we could not figure out how to turn on, that was a bit disappointing.

We stayed in Lofthaven, which was WONDERFUL! Its a great place for the adventurous. We also took the zipline tour and it was beautiful with the cypress trees changing colors but was not nearly as exciting as one would hope.

Thanks so much for coming out! We are glad you enjoyed your tour. Let us know if you would like to come back out for a Lofthaven stay, or a moon light tour. We will be doing a moon light tour in September, as well as October. Thanks again!

This was the first time zip lining for our entire family group. It consisted of two adults in their 60's, two adults in their 40's and three teenagers. The staff was excellent; fun and informative. Even though this was in July, with the tree covereage and the breeze up in the trees, it wasn't too hot. I would recommend this for first time zip lining or younger children. The zips aren't too long, but you get the effect. We went on Thursday, so with a paying adult, kids under 17 were free. Great deal!!

Had a great time zipping through the trees (I mean as much fun as zip lining can be I suppose) and our guides were amazing...actually the highlight of the tour (Thanks Shelby!). We had booked our stay in the Tree House for May but couldn't go until last weekend and the staff were very accomidating when it came to making changes. The tree and the accomping ground house were amazing and if it wasn't for the tempature reaching 108 degrees we would have stayed the entire night. No A/C to be had so we cut the trip short when (even after sundown) the tent was sweltering. The fans do not help...with a little a/c unit this would have been 5 stars...I do get that is the point of staying in a tree house but be warned this is more of a spring/fall experience in my opinion.

I ended up getting a really good deal on this excursion. Certain days of the week are buy one, get one free, so my family of 4 basically went for half price. It was pretty fun. We have never ziplock Ed before. The tour guides were nice, Interactive, and friendly. We all had fun!
