Our tournament league had an event at Cypress Lakes. Wasn't one of the best days to play because of the drizzle, overcast and pretty cool wind but everything else was very good. The course is in very good shape. The greens were very firm (not many ball marks even on high shots coming into the greens) and rolled pretty fast...faster than the average greens in Greater Houston area in December. The sand traps were all in good shape as were the tee boxes. A few of the fairways had some thin grass in areas. The rough is typical Houston area rough this time of year...In places it is sort of clumpy and others just fluffy but not long since the bermuda is dormant. Because of the weather, the pace of play was never an issue. I was in the first group of of the tournament and there was a 3some ahead of us. We saw them on the first 2 holes and after that we never saw them again. We finished in slightly over 4 hours so for a tournament round playing real golf (no gimmes, having to putt everything out, playing properly for balls OB, etc). I like thie course but would rather play it in late spring or the summer when the weather is more predictable. The staff was nice and accommodating. Only food I had there was a hot dog. It was nice and big but honestly it was not all that tasty.

Reasonably priced and can easily do 9 or 18 holes after work. The pro shop had nice items but the actual clubhouse is not very impressive. Grab a beer to go and enjoy the links!!

The burgers were really great, and the pro shop staff are very helpful. The course is very nice and well maintained, one of the better courses in the area.

The course was in really good shape and I would have liked to have given a better score but the playing experience was not very good. Played on a Wednesday afternoon with a 2:00pm tee-time. There was no starter, tee-times were basically ignored and it was a "free for all", groups of 5 were being allowed. It was worse then playing on a Saturday morning. Our foursome was stuck behind two groups of five and it was pretty brutal. There were also youths/students walking the course. This may have something to do with their golf school, not sure and I am not sure if that was just a weekday thing. Too many other good options in the area, I won't be back.

Went for a Sunday morning round. The guy taking money didn't seem awake, we bought balls and he didn't give them to us nor did we get a key to the cart, requiring a visit back to the clubhouse. Brakes on the cart were on/off. Tee'd off on time, course is in decent repair though the greens were freshly aerated. Not sure they should have charged us full price and they certainly didn't mention this, we may have choosen another course. The guy we played with, a member, mentioned that they have been doing all kinds of stuff to the greens this year and he was not happy. There are a few bunkers that had loose sand, most were concrete. This place is a few steps away from being a very nice course.

I've played here several times and have liked it each time. They are a little proud of their course though. And by this I mean: They advertise, The best greens in Houston! Not by a long shot. They are not bad, just not anywhere near the greatest. Also the are proud of their pricing. They normally charge about 55-65 dollars during the week, and more than that on the weekend. There is just not much to this course for them to commnad that kind of money. Maybe it keeps some people at bay, so its not as crowded, but I'd rather play a Houston National for less, and have more fun.

I played at the end of February. It was a little cool, and a lot windy! The course is in the midst of an ongoing housing development, but doesn't have that feeling. The design isn't cramped by the homes. They have made good use of the land to not have the layout compromised by the residential real estate.Overall it's a nice facility. The clubhouse isn't ostentatious by any means. But, gets the job done. There is a small pro shop and small snack bar positioned between the nines. It is still winter golf. So, playing conditions are just that. The course was in very good condition for the time of year. The greens were unbelievably FAST!!! I think that I have putted on kitchen floors that might have been slower! Three birdies and three three putts!!! One downhill putt that I barely touched from about 30 feet went 20 feet past the hole! lol Probably somewhere between 12-14 on the stimp meter!!! Maybe more! With the grass being very dry and dormant, add in a little down hill and down wind, and there was nothing to help slow the ball down. I'm anxious to play here under normal conditions. The layout was challenging enough. But had plenty of opportunities for scoring. Some "local knowledge" is a bonus on a couple of holes. Especially two of the par 5s. The 2nd hole is a par 5 with water down the whole right side and a dogleg to the right at the end before the green. I hit my drive down the middle. Hit a hybrid to lay up at 100, right down the middle. And when I got up there, a tree on the right side of the fairway to the left of the water completely blocked any approach to the green!!! lol Easy to avoid, but you have to know that it is there! There was another one on the back that got me as well. There are courses that are a little less expensive to play for sure. But, for the few extra bucks, if you play a better course, it's worth it.I'll be back to play here again for sure.

Nice GC in NW side of town. Known for best greens in Houston which is pretty accurate. Nice course with unique holes.

Played Cypress Lakes for the first time in several years recently in a high school fund raiser. Cypress Lakes is excellent for such an event. They have a large pavillion area which is perfect. The course was in excellent shape. Greens roll nice, fast and true but definitely are a challenge. Since it was a fund raiser, I did not really have much interaction with the staff but all that I did talk with were very nice and helpful.

The course is great for the value. The greens are tuff, some with alot of anglulations. Take into consideration the wind and the water on the course, it will challenge the best folders. The 10th hole, par 5, if you play it right, you cutoff about 75 yards and start thinking about Eagle.
