I have visited the Virginia Living Museum over the years with family visits and school field trips and have never been disappointed. A fun place to visit, especially if you have children, but adults, like in our family, enjoy it just as much. We love the native species of Virginia and are able to be a little more up close and personal with their indoor and outdoor exhibits. There is an outdoor boardwalk trail with animal enclosures and also a bird aviary. Indoors, a main highlight for us is the hands on experience with various, small ocean creatures. We also like the Abbitt Planetarium Theater ( an additional charge and check schedule for days it's operational) and being able to explore the universe from sitting in a seat and the program/documentary is very informative. Plan to spend a day because it will take at least that long to see everything the museum offers. I would definitely recommend visiting the Virginia Living Museum.

I accompanied a 4th grade class on two visits and truly enjoyed it. The kids loved it, too. The nature walk was the highlight of the visit.

Even if you are coming from out of town and only plan to go once, the season pass is a great deal because it give you free admission to 50 or so museums around the country. You are likely to find you have just got a year of free admission to a pricey museum back home. I'm local and always got the family plus friends passes when by kids were young. Now I get that pass for my grand daughter, so I count as a friend and get to go again. I

Most of the wildlife that is housed here were injured and rehabilitated but cannot be released back into the wild. Great experience for the young and old alike. The displays are very well done and this is one of the best attractions in the Hampton Roads area.

The VLM is so much more than a museum... it's all LIVING. It's a zoo, an aquarium, a planetarium, a picnic spot, and a great day's experience for the entire family. We took our daughter and her family, children aged 2 and 5 and they loved it!

My kids like this place. There is a small section for them to touch horseshoe crabs and some other small water animals. There is a cute little play area with a hobbit house and lots of trail where you can see various animals. There isn't a huge selection of outdoor animals to see. The indoor aquarium environments are pretty nice, however. Tickets are a little pricey but comparable to other area attractions. This place also has birthday packages where they bring out animals for the kids to learn about.

If you have a little one that loves animals this is the place. It can be seen in 1/2 day and has lots of hand on activities.

What a great way to see and experience what Virginia has to offer for wildlife in one place! It was a perfect place for my 7 year old son to learn about nature and native animals.

I have been taking my kids here since they were in strollers, and we still come occasionally when we have out of town guests. There is so much to see inside and out and there is often a special display. My favorite part is the nocturnal animals with owls and flying squirrels. And I could watch the otters all day!

Really nice museum, though I wish you got a little more for your money. I love animals, and they have a great variety of native creatures.

The Virginia Living Museum is a fantastic place to spend the day. Usually we spend a trip to the area in Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Jamestown, etc. We took our two young children to the Virginia Living Museum on the last trip and our only regret is that we hadn't visited earlier. The museum itself is beautiful - the architecture, layout of exhibits, cleanliness, presentation. The exhibits have plenty of space and are informative and interesting. My kids loved the touch tank, especially the horseshoe crabs. Outside there is an elevated walkway through the trees which was beautiful. We saw a lot of animals: fox, turkeys, deer, beavers, etc. The staff were knowledgeable and approachable. The Virginia Living Museum became the highlight of our trip. This is a fun museum that also has a lot of depth. It rivals the larger museums in the Washington, DC area. I was surprised and beyond impressed.

The inside had so many great things to see. Fish in aquariums, different areas all designed so great. And outside the birds, the aviary, the animals. Such a very cool place. Would highly recommend it. I loved it.

There are numerous animals both inside and outside. There's a 35 minute planetarium show that talks about the mystery of the Christmas Star. There is a small admission fee.

This is a very nice local museum. You can do kids birthdays, readings, see them feed animals and more. This is small but better than the Norfolk zoo. Staff seems more knowelgable
