Stopped by in the "off season" on a foggy, rainy day. It was creepy, but definitely cool. Make sure you research the Fremont ghost stories too. It's a bit of a drive to the park. Make sure you put the right address in the GPS, because we got a little turned around trying to find it.

It is a very interesting site to see. Very hard to imagine how this structure would have been built way back then. It could be more interesting if there were some sort of building or use of part of the structure as informartion about what it housed, pictures of the site in use. Fort McAllister is a good example of how this attraction could become more popular.

Wish there was less graffiti on walls, but to consider this a place built for the Spanish American War it's impressive. I have done some studying about early forts so was able to explain some of the area. Wish there was more informational signs. Many dark areas so bring a flashlight. Be nice if they, cleared the brush from the front firing range.

The children will love this! An opportunity to climb and explore! Occasionally there are unwanted visitors/vagrants, but definitely NOT the norm. This is a peaceful beach community, with many lovely homes and "Friends of Ft Fremont". My teenage daughter and friend explored every cavern of the fort in daylight hours. They loved it. It is a fantastic location for photos, and even beach photos. It is located directly on the Port Royal Sound. Do bring bug spray for the warm months!

This is a good place to loose yourself. It is steeped in history. The bad thing is some people didn't respect the beauty and left a lot of graffiti, it is sad.Take your bug spray and explore away.

The fort itself was fascinating, as we explored the fort's interior we stumbled upon a couple of homeless gentlemen who were calling Fort Fremont home. Bring a flashlight.

Don't expect an old fashioned fort, this isn't it. This place seems to be built into the side of a mountain.Ruins of a fort abandoned in early 1900s. There really isn't any thing to guide you around this site. Fine place to explore, but we had to go online to research exactly what we had seen.

Never even knew it existed until trip through St Helens Island. Amazing. To bad about the graffiti. The walk to the beach is nice. The whole place was eairly quiet. very interesting.

My son loved this, he is 15. I am sad though about the graffiti so parents beware when deciding whether to go. Also take flashlight as boys will want to explore the creepy dark corners.

Interesting ruins of a Spanish American war relic. Area being reclaimed from years of neglect by some dedicated volunteers. Worth a visit if in the area.

We came upon this old fort by accident. I was wowed. Someone said it once held slaves, It was creepy walking inside of it. It's huge..seemed like the buildings just went on and on. Lots of graffiti and trash inside. Other reviews said it was unimpressive but we found it just the opposite. I would recommend seeing this old fort.

An old fort but not kept up very well. Graffiti was not cleaned up. Really not a lot to see. A small beach area behind the fort was nice but crowded with people fishing more than swimming. Just ok, but I hear a volunteer group is putting time and effort into improving it.

History buffs who have researched this site before visiting might get some satisfaction.Shutterbugs, if they arrive when the light makes it interesting, might a couple good shots.Otherwise it is unimpressive and borders on creepy. There is a beach access but the beach is also underwhelming. Not worth a special effort, but if you are passing by…Date of Visit: 19Mar14

If you are history buff you must drive to the end of lands end road and tour the ruins of the fort. Also walk the grounds and go out to the beach s o you can get a perspective on what it was like to be there.

I really like forts and old things, but this isn't protected and, since there is no fee, people can go in and out freely. For honest people, that's good. There is quite the graffiti in the fort, and some are vulgar. There's some cigaretter butts and glass shards from bottles, so be careful of where you step. I would've paid to go see it if someone took care of it and could've stopped the graffiti. It looks really nice, and would look nicer if there was no graffiti, but what can ya say?:)
