sequoia park garden

We went to this park, and found a small garden. We thought is this it? But we walked past the zoo, and found the entrance to a beautiful park, with large redwood tress and other forest trees. There are trails that take you into the heart of the park. There is a nice little pond, and a parking area that is accessible from a side street in one of the neighborhoods. Its a gorgeous park that definitely required more time than we had allotted to it. This park will be at the top of my list for a return visit.

I live quite near this park, and love the walk through it. Shirin-yoku is "forest bathing", a Japanese relaxation pastime. I certainly feel so much better emotionally and mentally after a walk in these woods!

This gem of a park, is well-maintained with playground equipment for kids, benches and a casino, and beautiful walking trail filled with Redwoods and Sequoias. Definitely worth a visit the next time I am in Eureka, CA.

Beautiful park with nice short trails to walk, a sweet playground for the children, a pond or two. In parts of it you have the sense you are in the middle of a vast forest. I remember coming here as a child and loving it. It still appeals to my adult senses.

Beautiful garden. Well kept. Wishing well to make wishes. Not a big plce, but nice to see. Quiet gazeebo to sit and relax. I think they also rent it out for occasions.

Beautiful redwood trees here and a cool shady trail down into a sort of redwood "hollow". Ferns. Back up top, there is grass and a playground. Picnic tables.

We stumbled across this park and were delighted we did. The trees and scenery are just amazing and the park is very clean. Kudos to the City of Eureka for maintaining this treasure.

This location is a MUST if you have children. The zoo is a special place, they have a petting zoo for the kids and the upgrades really look nice. Lots of hands on activities for the kids so they can get even closer to the action. Easy parking too.

The Sequoia Park Zoo is a must see if you are traveling in the area with your family. The layout of the zoo is well done and there are many " hands on " activities for the children . Easy parking and easy to get around. Don't forget to walk or drive through the redwood park next door .

Sequoia zoo is wonderful for couples or families. They have really done a nice job with upgrading the zoo, they now have a petting zoo for kids which is great and also the park which is close by with many walking trails down to the duck pond!

I know it was winter, but I was not impressed and could not imagine it looking like much any other time of year.

The walking tour from the Visitor Center is pretty quick and well worth it. The trees are so beautiful and the park does an excellent job of giving you a perspective on how big / grand they actually are

Whatever the season is, the Sequoia Park Garden is a great place to visit and enjoy. The dahlia season is my personal favorite, but all year is wonderful there.

The Sequoia Park Garden was established in 1906. It is on land donated by the Glatt family. It has been continually developed and is one of the showiest gardens in the Eureka area. There is a quaint wishing well in the center that is over 80 years old. It grants wishes daily despite the absence of water in the bottom. Around the wishing well are four gardens with different flowers....Iris, begonias, soapwort, bridal veil, gladiolas, Canterbury bells, alyssum, lobelia, impatiens, Love in a Mist, painted tongue, petunias and painted daisies (to name a few).... Beyond the wishing well beds are hundreds of dahlias. Beginning in March through November the dahlias put on a show. They have so many colors and shapes: pincushion, water lily, pompom and cactus types.... and more! There is a darling gazebo that has flowers hanging around it. It has a wooden floor and two wooden benches. It's cool and shaded inside.Bring a blanket and eat a picnic lunch ..... (You can get the food at the nearby Zoo café). Make sure you bring your camera.... Hundreds of flowers are begging to be photographed!!!
