Ii was such a blessing to find a great place like O'Brien Farms near our home. The gift store was exceptional;. Well thought out. The fresh produce is the best. We have been eating fresh corn and tomatoes all Winter. They have u-pick blueberries ans strawberries aslo. The personnel is VERY friendly. It really has a family atmosphere. They have a small restaurant. Good food. You see alot of familes as the kids enjoy the place.
Stopped while driving by, picked up some fresh fruit and had a sandwich. You can walk around the grounds and visit the green houses. Nice and relaxing
Took our neice and nephew there while visiting and they loved it. It is a very well run farm and demonstrates hydrophonic growing very well. The produce and honey are also excellent quality.
pick your own strawberries and blueberries when in season. always fresh produce and honey. Watch the honey bees on TV
My grandkids and I had a blast picking the best tasting strawberries ever. They also have a large selection of hydroponically grown veggies. I picked fresh spinach and peppers right from the pot and they were delicious. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate my gluten-free granddaughter by making her a BLT salad (not on the menu). They could not have been nicer. They also carry a good assortment of packaged foods that would be great for gifts. We look forward to returning soon..
My girls love coming here. They have seasonal u-pick veggies and fruits in which my girls just beg to do pick! They have local honey, vegetable and fruits in their store front. They also sell anything from Amish jams, pickles, dipping sauces to made to order food to eat right at their picnic tables or rocking chairs! They have the best shakes and soups too! It is a must visit if you are out East of Bradenton! Very friendly people!
I thought the staff was extremely friendly, as you would expect on a "family farm". The fruits and veggies were fresh. The best part is the locally owned and operated. We need to support our farmers even if the cost is a bit more. It's got to be healthier not being handled so much. The only issue I have is that it closes too early (4pm). Most days I don't get off work until 4 so I have to wait for the weekend and then I simply do not want to drive 10 miles to pick up fruits/veggies.
Great place to pick blueberry's and get fresh produce. Very friendly stff
I took my 10 year old daughter and her friend because they wanted to pick their own strawberries. We ALL had the most fun day. Not only strawberries but all types of greens, beautiful cauliflower, cabbages were available in the hydroponic garden while we were there. I saw tomatoes and some other veggies growing in another area, waiting for picking season. All of the "pick your own" was $2 per pound. There is also a farmers market there if you don't want to go through the "labor" of picking your own. The kids loved the bee hive and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The food counter has a limited menu but the smoothies, soup and shortcake were very good. The whole place is ultra clean and pleasant. We spent about 2 hours here and then headed over to Hunsader to see the farm animals and run around. A great way to spend an afternoon and get some fresh local produce!!
We have 4 kids 11, twin 7 yr olds, & a 2 yr old. They all had fun picking strawberries (other things to pick there too), seeing the bees, & having a delicious lunch. The hot dogs are huge, we split them in half! They had BBQ pork sandwiches, shakes (yum), smoothies, strawberry shortcake and more. The place was very clean & the staff extremely friendly. Would definitely go again!!
This hydroponic garden is worth visiting even if you don't go home with a bag or two of produce and gifts. Their strawberries are the best I've had since I've moved to Florida. You can pick them yourself from the hydroponic towers if you want to. Other winners were the yellow zucchini, Italian eggplant, poblano peppers, and lettuce. They have ice cream too, which I didn't try, and enormous chocolate-covered strawberries, which we loved.
Get your fresh strawberries and vegetables here. Also a restaurant on site serving Strawberry shortcake and more!
We stopped in to pick strawberries. The plants are on tiers so they are super easy to pick whether you are 2 feet or 6 feet tall. THis would be perfect for someone in a wheelchair. You get a bucket and a small pair of scissors. The people there are SO Friendly. The kids got to sit on a tractor, and watch a colony of bees. It's a fully functioning farm, and the employees there answered tons of questions and gave my kids a little tour of the farm. They serve milkshakes and smoothies. They sell Amish goods and fresh produce. Our kids, 7,11, and 14 all enjoyed the afternoon.
