famous fossil winery

I live in Wisconsin, just over the border from Cedarville. This was the most unexpected place to find a winery! I have been to California many times, always, of course, checking out the wineries. I learned a great deal about wine and how it's made. What a pleasant surprise to find this winery in my own backyard! So interesting to hear about their background! I have entertained family and friends FROM California - and Texas - at Famous Fossil and they were always impressed with the peaceful country setting, We really enjoyed sitting on the patio, so relaxing looking out over the vineyard and farm lands. We usually did the wine tastings, then ordered a bottle of wine, a cheese and sausage tray, and enjoyed the ambiance of the patio. At one visit, we talked with the owner who was going back to California to visit family and was headed to the very place my guests were from! Murietta - Ah memories!

Great indoor and outdoor seating. Good wines. Friendly people.We stopped here on our way home after Galena, IL (more wine)And their dog was so sweet after barking to let everyone know we arrived.

I had no idea there was a local winery in Cedarville, so when we went with friends, I wasn't sure what to expect. What a treat! Nearly all of the grapes they grow themselves. The few they don't come from very close local farmers. The wine tasting was great, leading us to buy numerous bottles. Do yourself a favor and try the Blackberry! It tastes like fresh fruit! Friendly staff, great wine, and even the building is wonderful with views overlooking the vineyards. Make sure to stop!!

I'm very surprised this place doesn't have more reviews currently! It's a great place - very clean inside and out, super relaxing to sit on the patio and look out over the grape field. As far as wines go they have something for everyone, I highly enjoyed the following: Fossil Rock White, Bedrock Red, Make me Blush, Summer Rhubarb, and Blackberry. They also make SANGRIAS (yum). Great reasonable prices - bottles from $9.95 - 21.95, glasses $6-$7, wine tasting is 4 samples for $3 or 6 samples for $5. Also, they have a separate room for groups - GREAT for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, girls day out, wine glass painting, etc.

A new winery but coming on strong. Owner was very engaging and good quality wines offered. Came away with several purchases. Best part was a photo of my friend next to the "old Fossil" sign!!

Pam makes it easy to send long distance, handling the tricky shipping of alcohol for us. Famous Fossil wines have always been a favorite as gifts.
