This is the first place I have ever visited which has a Dog Loo and it is even signposted.I was at the Peatlands Park today and had an enjoyable afternoon. There is no admission charge to the park. I completed the red walk - which encompassed the whole park of about 5 miles and it took 2 hours. I really enjoyed the experience with the different contrast of the peat bogs with the woodland area and the lakeland walk. The whole park is very well maintained - credit to the ground staff - with clear directions for the different walks to follow. There is seating and information stands on the various wildlife and fauna to look out for located throughout the park. As I visited 'out of season' there was no train running but I can imagine this is a popular place in the summer as it had ample picnic areas. The only negative point I have is the paths in some parts are very muddy but I didn't mind as I came prepared with an old pair of walking boots. There is some noise from the M1 motorway but again it cannot be avoided due to its location.I will definitely visit again in the summer when the plants and wildlife are at their peak.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review about Peatlands Park. We are glad you enjoyed your recent visit to the Park and that you appreciated the unspoilt beauty of this unique environment. We are indeed privileged to have such a natural site which is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, some of which are extremely rare such as the marsh clubmoss which is found nowhere else in Northern Ireland. Autumn is a lovely time of the year to explore the 10 miles of paths within the 680 acre Park and we are pleased you have added Peatlands Park to your list of beautiful places to visit within Country Tyrone.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review on Peatlands Park. We couldn’t agree more with your sentiments and we are delighted you and your family use the Park regularly and appreciate its natural beauty. We take onboard your point about providing a natural play area for kids although we do have a ‘Woodland School’ which is a large enclosed wooded area just beyond the pond where children can safely explore and play in. Here you will find a woodland hut, sand pits, willow tunnels and underground tunnels. We hope you and your family will continue to explore Peatlands Park for many years to come.

We are sorry you were disappointed with your recent trip to Peatlands Park Jarlath. The park is an NIEA Government owned property and as with the other 7 Country Parks, Peatlands Park provides visitors with a pleasant and enjoyable experience enabling them to relax in a countryside setting. There are 5 way-marked routes within the Park providing visitors with over 10 miles of walks through various habitats. Unlike Council parks, Country Parks do not provide play parks. The train runs Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays only during the summer months but wasn’t running over a short period due to technical issues and we do apologise for any inconvenience caused. The vending machines are owned and maintained by Castle Vending. We have provided them a small area to sell hot and cold refreshments should visitors wish to purchase but we have no input into the prices charged. We hope you will come back again and take a leisurely and peaceful walk across our open raised bog or around the tranquil Derryadd Lough or take an early morning autumn ramble through our woodland where you can discover some of the best flora and fauna this part of the country has to offer without bumping into crowds of people.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Peatlands Park. With 680 acres of mixed habitat and over 10 miles of scenic walks, the Park is indeed quite large. We hope you will continue to use Peatlands Park and we are sure your dog will love it too.

Thank you for your review of Peatlands Park. Sorry to learn you didn’t get a chance to have a go on the train on your recent visit but hopefully you’ll get another opportunity next year.

Spend the afternoon here with the family and very safe and welcoming. Our kids love the play park and the ice cream van.

Jogging has been the main reason for my visits or maybe a morning or evening walk when it is quiet. This is usually a good time for walking the dog and you have about six miles as the longest so it's a good walk. One hill and surfaces are quite rough in places although there is a tarmac area up to the second lake about a quarter mile and to the top of the wooded hill. It is very scenic as far a moss-land can be, good parking but don't forget the closing time which is early in winter (just park outside). Plenty of activities throughout the year with bog snorkelling one of the best known. There is a train that will usually be running at holiday times and throughout the summer. No food, so a pic-nic or even a barbecue if you are careful and plenty of benches scattered around to make the best of a good day sitting in the sun. A good cafe would be a nice addition, however a bad one would cheapen the overall experience.

Thank you for taking the time to write a positive and informative review. The Park has 5 way-marked routes totalling over 10 miles (17km) of walks with the 5.5 mile route being the longest. The paths can be very wet in parts at this time of year but accessible with suitable footwear. We hope you and your retriever will continue to visit the Park throughout all its seasons.
