This is a nice beach on Culebra from where you can see a sunset. It's also the best place to snorkel if you want to see turtles

My wife and I had the best time of our vacation here swimming with the green turtles. We stayed at Casa Encase and Cliff and Maureen suggested we come here in the morning (to beat the kayak tours) and that we should see the turtles. We were not disappointed. We swam with over 20 of them along with sting rays. It was fantastic.

This was such an incredible experience for me! I have never seen turtles up close in the wild before, and this was incredible. We went on a Friday morning, around 10 a.m. and I was told by some people there to walk to the left side of the beach and swim out- that's where the turtles are. At first, I had gone out towards one of the buoys, where the sea grass grows. I did not see any turtles until I kept swimming to my left, over where the new grass is growing in the sand. I saw a sting ray, and then immediately after, 2 turtles. I kept swimming around that area and saw between 8-10 turtles in all... maybe more, but I lost count. I even saw a turtle who was missing his front right flipper- but he was doing fine and getting around just like the rest of them! After hanging out with the turtles for a bit, I swam over close to the shore on the left hand side of the beach and discovered some lovely coral reefs and tropical fish right near the surface of the water and right by the shore. The water is shallow here, so I image this may be a good place for first time snorkelers or children. You just have to be careful. You can't swim over this coral, you have to go between to make sure you don't touch it. As far as getting there, if you're camping at Flamenco beach or staying at the villas, you can walk there if you have the time and/or energy. We did and the walk wasn't bad. Just walk the road until you see a sign that says "Tamarindo Estates" and walk that road up and over the hill and you're there. We were there for a few hours. Bring what you need with you, there are no facilities. It was a fantastic experience that I hope to have again!

There is an excellent array of sea fans, some of the best I've ever seen. lots of different types of fish, really really pretty. The other great thing is hardly anybody is at this beach.

This is the beach you want to visit if you're looking to snorkel while in Culebra. The beach has a lot of tree cover which I found to be delightful given the intensity of the sun. Recommend you bring your own snorkel equipment to this sight. There are no rentals without paying for a tour group if you're interested in snorkeling.

Be careful if you lay on the rocky side of the beach. Ants will eat you a alive. Snorkeling, head for sand with sea weeds and you should soon find turtles in 5 foot or water or so, so very easy to take pictures / video. Also took great shoots of squids with all their iridescent colors.

There were palm trees for shade, a nice beach for walking on, and good snorkeling. We saw a ray, a number of fishes, and several turtles.

This is a gorgeous beach with crystal clear waters that is perfect for snorkellers. This beach is part of a marine reserve and it's great that the beach remains clean. This quay is at a cross current between the Caribbean and Atlantic ocean; so you get both warm and cold currents. There are reefs not too far out from the beach so it is a great spot for snorkelling. If you are feeling adventurous, pluck a tamarind (beach is named after this tree) from the trees that line the beach and see if you like this tropical fruit.

The beach was gorgeous and boasts a great deal of sea life. During snorkeling we got to see turtles, fish and sting rays.

Beautiful beach, very good snorkling. Snorkle out across the sea grass to the left and you will see sea turtles eating from the bottom and occasionally surfacing. Saw about 10 of them over two days. Also saw a giant stingray gliding along the grass.

Day tripped to Culebra from mainland. We brought our own snorkeling gear and were told by the locals that Playa Tamarindo is the best snorkeling beach. It was wonderful!

In comparison to Flamenco beach, the waters here is calm. Good for kids swimming if you visit the island in the high waves season like us. Part of the beach near the road has big fiery ants though so be careful. The beach is pretty rocky at the far left which made it difficult to walk and can be dangerous for kids. We swam at the right and saw fishes swimming next to us. Nice!

We rented snorkeling equipment and went around 9 am on a weekday morning in February. There were very few people in the water. We saw plenty of fish, a few sting rays, and, of course, sea turtles. The beach is beautiful and it is easy to get to. We walked along the rocky shoreline a bit in order to go in where the sea grass starts and limit the swimming. If you go to Culebra, this is a can't-miss stop!

We decided to skip the $60 each Culebrita boat fare and instead find our turtles at Tamarindo in Culebra. The beach is easy to get too and has parking but no bathrooms. The turtles are easy to find and so fun to watch! If you go before 8 am, you'll see big groups together (25 turtles). If you go mid-morning or afternoon, you'll see 5 or 6. So fun to snorkel here and the water was calm and easy to swim in. We loved it!

Maybe it was just bad timing, but we arrived by golf cart to join about 20 people on shore waiting to get in their kayaks and or don their snorkel gear, no parking even for a golf cart and along came a boat with another 20 or so perspective snorkelers. Poor fish!!
