The ladies conducting the tour were absolutely delightful. Too often you feel like there is a set canned speech that has been memorized, but instead my husband and I felt like the ladies really were doing something they loved. There was a bit of fractured history, since Jerome Bonaparte was married to Princess Catharina of Wurttemberg, not Catherine of Aragon (who died in 1536), but it didn't dim our enjoyment of this wonderful house and it's beautiful furnishings one bit. Do give it a try!

The Conde-Charlotte House, operated the the Colonial Dames of America, is in front of the current Fort Conde. Built over the ste of the magazine of the original fort, and comprised of what was once the jail, the house provides visitor a gimp se into early life in Mobike. It features furnishings from each of the nations occupying the Mobile Bay Area. We commend a visit to this site.

My husband and I spent a few days in Mobile. We went to this home the day after Christmas, but didn't see any lights on inside and no cars around, so assume they were closed for the Christmas weekend. But the outside of the home is beautiful with a large patio on the side of the home. A beautiful Christmas garland was hung on the front of the home. The next time we are in Mobile, we'll make another stop for a tour.

The tour guides were knowledgeable and entertaining with the telling of the history. This house has served from home to jail in its long life.

Very nice small house museum. Interesting history and areas decorated for each flag and period of Mobile history. Exterior garden on west side of home carries on the theme as well. Worth a visit.

You must go on this tour, Karen did an amazing job. It was the most interesting tour I have ever been on. Love it!

There were two "Southern Belles" giving tours; one on first floor and one upstairs. Both equally entertaining !! They told lots of stories and gave a good history lesson.

Children are not allowed "because it is a museum with antiques".... hmmm. First time my (well behaved) children were not allowed to visit a museum. Should probably advertise as an adult only facility.

I was impressed with the knowledgeable docents who showed us through the house and back courtyard. The home has displays of French, British, colonial, Spanish and confederate era furnishings. I have toured many historic homes and this one is one of the best I have seen, partly because of the detailed information we were given. For $5 an adult, it is well worth it,

Fort Conde, a rebuilt replica of the 1700's fort that guarded Mobile is a lovely spot that challenges the imagination to relive the exciting days of attack and chivalry that the soldiers lived out in those historic 18th century years that Mobile was becoming a city of distinction. It is a delight for children of all ages and adults who love history and beauty.

We tried to visit this house with our grandchildren. The sign for the house stated a price for children, however, when we knocked on the door, the woman who answered said this was not for children. We tried to explain that out granddaughter really wanted to see the house, but she still turned us away! I love visiting Mobile, but was very disappointed in this experience. If children are not allowed, this should be stated on the sign.

We love history and this was a great unique way to learn the history of Mobile! We depend on TripAdvisor to help us out! We had wanted to also visit Fort Conde while here, two for one. But it was closed due to some repair work. But the History Museum was close by so enjoyed that, too. Free parking and the attendant told us about the free trolly ride, about 15 minutes around downtown. Enjoyed all we saw!

If you are looking to see antiques this place is great. Spent a good part of the morning there and plan to go again.

This small museum/home is hard to find but well worth it. Gives you the feeling that it is haunted.
