Spent several hours at the park over a beautiful weekend. Many ducks were eager to eat from your hand, as well as the huge koi. Ever time we though we spotted a big fish, a bigger one would show up! We liked the convenience of the coin feeders for the duck and fish food. Make sure you walk down to where the spring starts and feeds into the lake- gorgeous area for pictures, people watching and getting close to the fish. Absolutely a must if you are in town-Very clean, picturesque and family friendly!

Each year there are approximately 250 trees displayed. They are sponsored by businesses or groups from the greater Huntsville area. It is free to the public and is a very pretty visit for the holiday period.

This is not to be missed along with the ice rink that is set up for outdoor ice skating during the winter months. No matter what the season the park is an excellent place to spend an afternoon, picnicking, feeding the ducks or just sitting and reading a book.

Big Spring Park in itself is a cozy place to visit in downtown Huntsville. But there are always events here that make the park better. There are movies in the park during the summer, ice rinks and Christmas Trees in the winter. I sometimes visit just to walk around for a while.

The geese poop is problematic but feeding the geese is an entirely different story. It's landscaped very well with nothing too over the top but still very pretty. Across the road is the lesser known part of the park with a gazebo, a little pond with a statue and stairs that lead up into downtown. It's definitely worth the time to see that side at night as there is a small light display going on on the rocks

This year my husband and I decided to spend midnight at Big Spring Park for the ball drop. We went with 5 other friends. We had never been down there for the event. I was also very interested in seeing the Tinsel Trail, about 200 decorated Christmas trees around the lake. We were surprised to find out that the parking garage didn't charge the usual $5 for parking, and that started the night off great. The Tinsel Trail was pretty impressive and made for some very nice pictures. Since we didn't know what to expect, we just followed the noise over to the Gazebo where they had pretty good music. There are stands with hot chocolate and some food items, right next to the skating rink. That is pretty cool to watch. The countdown was fun and the fireworks they had over the VBC was pretty good. I'm sure we'll make the trip again next new years eve, and bring even more friends.

I visit the park often. My favorite time of year is Christmas. The free Tinsel Trail is wonderful experience for the family. We have made it part of our yearly tradition. No matter the time year check the downtown calendar. There is always something going on from music, arts or food trucks. During the spring/summer my son likes to feed the ducks and squirrels.

Big Spring Park is even more beautiful than usual at this time of year with all of the wonderful Christmas trees surrounding the lake. There is also an outdoor ice-skating rink to enjoy in addition to the ducks and giant goldfish.

The Big Spring supplies water to downtown Huntsville; the park around has been updated. There are ducks and fish and birds and bridges. The Museum of Art is there and the Von Braun Ctr is very close by. Many walk there and feed the ducks, people watch, and concerts are held there in the summer. A park to see!

Great place to take little ones to see the ducks and fish. Feed dispensers are a rip off tho. There are so many areas to capture good pictures. And the ice cream place on the corner is a nice treat when it's hot. I do wish the city would clean the sidewalks a little more often, duck waste is everywhere.

When I first visited Huntsville four years ago, I was surprised that a park in the center of downtown was so peaceful. It feels very safe and I have never been approached by pan handlers in the park. Now that we live here we attend many of the events in the park. The free summer concert series is fun. Bring your lawn chair and a picnic basket if you like. It is a pet friendly event. We also attended the Grotto Lights concerts in the park this summer. The bands at this series have been awesome, including some from Nashville. Again, free. Food vendor trucks are plentiful during the Grotto Lights concerts this summer. There is a nearby pizza parlor near the pond. You can buy wine or an adult beverage and carry it through the park in the approved cups. There is also a cute coffee shop/ice cream parlor near the pond. All within walking distance. Only drawback to mention would be a lack of public restrooms. You would need to purchase a product from a local restaurant and use there's. Can be a 10-15 minute walk from the concert area. Kind of a nuisance. Outdoor Movies are also held certain evenings in the summer. Can't comment as I haven't attended these. They seem to be geared for young children. Downtown Huntsville is a sleepy, but nice place. I hope to see some of the old historic buildings used in the future. It has so much potential.

So many great events happening here this summer. Panoply, weekly music and foodtruck events, monthly movies, Grotto light show, etc. Don't worry if you missed one of those events, you have several more coming soon including wine tastings, Mesh Fest '14- all the local culture of the Huntsville area wrapped into food and fun, and Good Beats, Good Eats. I'm sure there are more, but those will are the ones I will DEFINITELY be at!!! :-)

We visited on a Saturday evening that had a planned summer concert and it was a delight. Several hundred people had their chairs and blankets spread under the trees and enjoying the park and the food vendors. We dined at a local restaurant and happened into the park to find this great show. What a pleasant surprise this was. This is a beautiful park with koi, ducks and beautiful waterways.

Big Spring Park is nestled in the downtown area. The Huntsville Museum of Art, restaurants and a cafe line the sides of the pond area. There are benches strewn throughout and duck feeding dispensers to feed the ever-hungry ducks. There are two sides to Big Spring Park. The pond is on both sides. One side has a grassy knoll in the middle perfect for picnics, playing catch, catching some sun or whatever. The other side is where the food area is and most of the ducks.

I was so anxious to be outside after being on a plane and in buildings all day. It was a nice surprise to find this park and walkway right outside of the Embassy Suites. Several countries/cities have donated pieces to the park and don't miss the spring & canal. Fascinating to think the spring was the main source of water for Huntsville until the middle of the 20th century. The canal system has an equally interesting history behind it.
