Small park on the shores of Lake Jackson. Well kept up. I was here in the winter, stayed for 3 nights while working in the area. Bath house and all the grounds were kept nice. Not a whole lot going on in January but the park was populated with snowbirds wintering.

In October, camped at Florala State Park. Got site right on Lake Florala. It is a very small state park only 13 sites. Absolutely loved it here. We rode our bikes every day because park has built a walkway almost completely around the lake. The route takes you by the small beach, park where we witnessed a sunset wedding, and all along the lake. Our site was the best. Every night we had a fire and watched the spectacular sunset. We never stay at the same state park twice, but this is going to be the exception. Will definitely stay again.

Beautiful lake Jackson sits on the Florida/Alabama state line. With hanging moss and a walking path perfect for a stroll while looking at the lake the whole time.

Nice clean park and campgrounds. However, very small, gets boring after a couple of trips around the lake, for the adults, but the kids love tubing. Have seen a few snakes, so I don't care to much to swim in it..although a lot of people doesn't share that thought. The park is very Kid and pet friendly park, and it's free, unless you camp, that makes it good.

The lake is nice enough, although it's just another hour or so down to the Florida Gulf Coast. The biggest problem with Florala is the police roadblocks and searches. The lake is in a very small town, and they see tourists as income. I was shaken down, my car was searched without my consent, and when I protested, I was threatened with violence if I continued. I was not charged with anything. I will never drive through this town again. I'd rather drive through the worst slums of any major city. At least the gang members there don't operate under color of law.

As far as swimming for free in a spring-fed lake goes, you can't beat Florala! The sandy shore and bottom of the lake mean nobody's muddy when you're finished. There are plenty of trees and picnic shelters for shade, grills. The water is warm, clear enough to see the bottom if there aren't too many people there at once. Be careful about letting little kids jump off of the fishing pier. It's really shallow on the sides. I've seen bigger kids get hurt jumping off the end too. As long as nobody is jumping off of that, it seems like a nice, safe place for all ages to swim, with a very gentle, slow drop to deeper water. We've seen some turtles out in the deeper water, little fish, but never any dangerous critters like snakes or alligators near the swimming beach. There's plenty of shaded area to walk around, and an old WWII plane with bullet holes that kids can climb on, take their picture with. If you forget something, or aren't the picnic type, there's a gas station with pizza next door, and a Hardees. Florala is a cute little town too, worth spending a day looking around and enjoying the lake. Since we live so close, we go here often just to swim.

Nice little campground. Not many sites. But half are on the water. Beautiful for sunsets. Very pretty lake. Bathrooms are old but in good shape. We will be back again.
