Dan and Walt have created a marvelous garden. Their garden design is stunning. The choice of plants is beautiful. The area with the weeping birch and the arched bridge over the creek is very picturesque, but I think the area with the 6 ft tall lillies and the iris is probably my favorite. There is also a formal garden area that changes color with the season. Well worth seeing. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood on the south side of town and visitors might think they were lost when looking for it. I have been there many times for many different sorts of visits. When they serve cheesecake it is heavenly. All of food I have had at various events there has been very good. However, I also enjoy it without the food. There is only food if you are there for a special event of some sort.
What wonderful gardens. I love the attention to detail and the landscaping. Little hard to find but well worth it.
Went here this afternoon with a friend just to walk and sit and talk. There is a $6 suggested donation per person for self-guided tours. What a lovely location---- really beautiful. This would be ideal for group meetings, events/workshops, and weddings. I understand they are in high demand for such events!
I recently traveled to Montana for a Wedding at DanWalt Garderns and I was highly impressed. It was a really beautiful location and the owners were extremely helpful in the event planning. Had a blast and enjoyed the scenery while I was doing it.
I recently visited Montana, just to attend a wedding here. I didn't know what to expect, but it ended up being one of the best trips of my life. I hold DanWalt Gardens responsible for this. The property was absolutely amazing and made for the perfect location for the wedding. If you are looking to hold an event in Billings I strongly recommend checking this place out. 5 Stars for the staff and property.
My best friend got married here recently and it was the most magical, perfect location for a wedding. Walt was not only the owner of the place but was essentially a wedding planner, as well. He said he'd been doing this for 18 years and you could tell he knew how to plan a wedding! He was very thorough with all the details and the bride and groom were so happy to have him throughout the process. The location itself is gorgeous. Guests can walk in and stroll through the garden on the way to the altar. And best of all, there was a bridal house for the bride and her bridesmaids to hang out in, get ready and wait until the actual ceremony. It was really nice to sit in there and take tons of pictures while we waited!By the time the ceremony started the garden was perfectly shaded and afterwards the reception started in another building on the property which was equally as beautiful. All in all it's a great one-stop location to have your entire wedding!
A photographers dream. The impeccable landscaping and wide range of plants and flowers makes for a pristine setting suitable for any event you could imagine. The inside dining area serves perfectly as a reception area for a wedding, anniversary or birthday. If you're in Billings, definitely consider this place for your next event. Nothing short of beautiful.
My friends got married here a couple weekends ago. It is a beautiful setting for wedding. The gardens helped create a unique and private feeling for the ceremony and reception.
The guys have done a nice job landscaping this place. I was in a wedding here years back. It is a nice place for things like that.
The gardens were beautiful and very well maintained. I recommend going at different times of the year as different flowers are always blooming. I also recommend going on a weekday either in the early morning or later afternoon. You will miss the crowds and the events for the most part. One can also make a reservation for a ''lunch experience'' on some days of the week every week (not sure which). This lunch comes with a tour of the gardens as well as some of the DanWalt famous, homemade cheesecake. What takes this place over the top, though, is the owners. True, we visited during a very slow time, but Dan, one of the owners, spent much time chatting with us, telling us the history of the grounds and interacting with our children. He even brought out some baby ducks for the kids to pet. We brought a picnic, which was a great idea. Just a really pleasant afternoon at the gardens. We will be back!
DanWalt Gardens is quiet, beautiful, and restores your flower-loving soul! Try to visit when the iris are in bloom. Amazing variety! Each one had a different fragrance. You won't be able to choose just one as your favorite. They are very welcoming and will answer any questions you have. A little hidden and hard to find the first visit but you will certainly remember how to get there and will return many times as we have.
These are amazing gardens that hide within the south side. It even has a wonderful setting for an incredible wedding.
very special if you are interested in gardening at all. it would have been cool if the gardener was there to tell you about it.
I attended a cousin's wedding reception here. I had heard it was really nice but I was skeptical. I was blown away when I saw what these guys have done here. The layout and the sheer number of different plants, flowers and trees is stunning. The south side never looked like this when I was growing up.
DanWalt gardens is an amazing oasis in the heart of Billings. Owner Dan is an outgoing, fun guide for the gardens. I recommend that you schedule a guided tour. The gardens are lovely and packed with more variety of flora and fauna than I thought possible. We had the good fortune to schedule a guided tour with lunch. Lunch was wonderful and served up inside a tastefully decorated pavilion. DanWalt is a great place to spend a few hours gazing at the flowers and plants away from the hussle-bustle of city life.
