We just returned from 2 night cabin rental. DON'T DO IT! Lake is beautiful...boats and cabins horrible. UGH

If you are looking for a comfortable get away this place is best avoided. The cabin we rented(one night) was two bedrooms. There was practically no other furniture in the cabin. In the large living area there was a small table(roughly 3'x3') and two metal chairs. After being there roughly 1/2 hour the toilet quit working and, of course, no after hours service. There were 4 TV stations. We rented a boat to fish and after doing all the paperwork work were told they were short on bait. If I would have known this in advance I would not have rented the boat. I also found it a little disconcerting that they pre-charge(well before arrival) for room/boat on your credit card. There are no places to eat close to the marina.

My girlfriend and I came and stayed in the cabins for our first ever visit to Nolin Lake over Labor Day weekend. We brought my Crownline and we had a blast. The cabin was clean, the setting was quiet, and the owner even made sure to get us fixed up with a covered slip for the weekend with no prior arrangements. Loved having the firepit for lounging around in the evenings. I don't know what the others experienced to have them post the negativity I've seen, but we will most definitely be back to visit again next year....hopefully more than once. The cabins aren't fancy, but they have everything you need for a fun-filled weekend on the lake. We really only look for a place to lay our heads and have a nice fire, because we spend the days either at the National Park, or swimming and boating across beautiful Nolin Lake. I think these others are looking for a 5-star experience at a one star price. Not a fair review. Thank you so much to the owners and staff for taking good care of us. We were pleased with our experience..

My family spent 3 nights at the Moody Deer Marina Resort over Independence Day, I don't expect luxury accommodations from a cabin, but for $100 a night it would be nice if you could at a minimum get some clean towels each day and for the cabin to be clean when you take possession. My cabin had no curtain or shade on the door so I had to make one from paper towels to save my neighbors from having to watch our every move. You are required to sweep the floors before you leave but there was no broom so I had to buy one, you are required to take your own trash to the overflowing dumpster, and do all the dishes you use. The table was eerily sticky, and the furniture was probably original to the cabin when it was built decades ago. On the positive side, the roof did not leak, the AC worked ok and the fridge kept our food cold, and we always had hot water. The give you a strict set of rules to follow but do nothing to enforce them, large dogs running around with no leash, people shooting off fireworks, and more all strictly prohibited but apparently ok. The lake itself is very nice and the people in the area are super friendly. Bottom line, these places need some serious updating and cleaning before I'd consider spending $100 a night again.

We spent three nights in the Mourtadier (pronounced Moody Deer, so the locals tell me) Campground on Nolin Lake. This is an excellent, very clean, and very well layed out campground. The lake is beautiful, although currently very low. Very clean public facilities. There are wooded spots and lake front spots to choose from. Use Reserve America for reservations. The Red Roof BBQ restaurant was very good as well.
