This is a quick hike, a little steep in a few places, that brings you to a lovely view. We enjoyed the walk on a breezy, summer day. There were no crowds. Parking was a little challenging and finding the trailhead not so easy, but with the help of our trusty Maine atlas, we managed to find the place. We took the walking trail that is marke d and never saw a tower -- possibly you come to that if you follow the road. No restrooms or outhouses. Possibly a nice walk for the blueberry picker when the time is right for the berries. . . . many wild bushes.
Once you get to the top, there is a great view of the surrounding countryside of southern Maine - especially in the fall, with all the colors of the foliage. There is a fire tower that gets you even higher. A great individual or family hike and experience!
My friends, my husband and I drove most the way to the summit, but parked a good 20 minute walk from the top. We got out and walked the rest of the way up. You could probably drive further if you had a truck, but it's always good to get out and get some exercise. At the top there's a small tower you can climb up the steps and get a better view of the surrounding area. It's a lovely spot to have a small picnic and just enjoy the fresh air. There is a (cell?) tower at the top which is a minor obstruction, but you can go into the forest behind it and find another outlook that hides the tower from view.
