The conservation center is well hidden. This helps keep hoards of people just dropping in, which the wolves would not take kindly to.Having to make reservations to visit prevents your visit from ever being over crowded. The wolves are absolutely stunning. Howling along with them makes you feel like they are talking to you. They also have beautiful photos of the wolves you see to purchase. A great experience from 3 to 93.

Perfect day trip from Long Island. Informative, fun, amazing up-close experience. Please support the work they are doing to protect these majestic creatures. Only through raising awareness can we save them.

Just back from our visit today with 3 girls, 12, 10 and 8. Had a really nice engaging time. An easy ride up here from Long Island. There's a good presentation in a classroom type setting which is very informative about wolves and the work carried out by the center. Then it's time to meet the wolves up close, but there is a chainlink fence in between!!! No it's not a Zoo or a money spinning hobby. No extra hard sell of souvenirs etc. The people who work here are knowledgeable and passionate about their work. The kids (one is a huge wolf fan) and ourselves, really enjoyed our 1 1/2 hrs or so in a lovely setting on a chilly day. Also it's very reasonably priced.

We attended the Wolves of North America event which included a 35 minute educational session about wolves followed by about an hour viewing the wolves. The neatest part was howling and hearing the wolves howl back. The staff was very knowledgeable. The wolves were beautiful. The center does a number of other activities including howling events with wine, sleeping with the wolves, and photography sessions. I look forward to going back to check out of the these other events.

A little bit of a climb to get up the driveway so go a bit early. Alex, our host, was very well informed and entertaining. Initial slideshow brought a lot of information together before we did the tour. All of the wolves were interesting and very up close and personal. Well worth the time and your admission fee goes to a great cause.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Conservation Center on August 24th. My 9 year old daughter is a wolf enthusiast, so we traveled to South Salem to check it out. We had the pleasure of getting Lois as our guide. Her presentation was wonderful-funny, informative, and impassioned. The facility itself was amazing. We had an up-close and personal view of the ambassador wolves in their semi-authentic habitat. Lois did an amazing job of explaining wolves role in the ecosystem and their essential presence in our world. We will definitely be back!

I took my 4 year old grandson to see this in the hopes I'd give him a great memory. He loved it as did I. I would recommend this to anyone for it's educational value. The guides are helpful and polite. The thrill of hearing and seeing these animals howling and feeding was fantastic Highly recommend!!!!!

We recently visited the Wolf Conservation Center, in South Salem, NY. It was an easy drive from the Capital District. While the entrance is not obviously marked, the directions to the Center are easy to follow and staff on the telephone were most helpful. We attended a 2:00 session on coyotes which was very nicely presented in the small outdoor classroom building. We were then led up the hill to observe and meet the new addition - an 8 week old ambassador-to-be wolf pup who was making his public debut that day. We also visited three other ambassador wolves as well.On Sunday, we attended an 11:00 workshop on wolves and again were able to view the previously mentioned wolves. The experience is one of a kind and the knowledge shared is extensive!Be prepared to wear comfortable clothing and "sensible shoes" as you will do some hiking...We had a wonderful time there and are so grateful that conservation centers like this one exist!Kudos to the great staff and volunteers!

The Wolf Conservation Center is a great learning facility. Humans need to understand that wolves are a vital part of the ecosystem, and when they can understand what purpose the wolf serves in our world then it will help with the survival of these wonderful animals.

We had a really great time with Alex who explained us the mythology between the wolves and humans. I (and my kids also) was really impressed to hear the wolves howls and visiting them.

You can see the wolves up close and personal at the Wolf Conservation Center. You will also learn about their habitat and habits from the staff. They have lots of programs for kids. Great place to take guests when they are visiting you in Northern Westchester.
