We always go here for a nice little walk with the family. It is about 1.2 miles around. There is a nice path, some of it has wooden bridges and other parts are dirt. Great place to get away from it all and enjoy nature!

Swallow Hallow is one of my favorite places in the area to go for a walk and watch wildlife. Great place to see nature and feel peace as you walk along, Many trails to choose from and great place for photograph taking. The seasons are all different so it is like a new adventure all the time with different things to see.

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge is lesser known than Montezuma an hour-plus East of Iroquois in Upstate New York. And this 1.3 boardwalk/well-kept dirt path is a gem. From the parking lot on Knowsville, you start on a boardwalk through woodland, down through a spruce forest and then out on a dike through marshland around a pond and back through the woods to the parking area. Footing is even and -- in our experience unusual -- a realistic destination and activity for people in wheelchairs. No steps or gaps in the path anywhere, and the land is nearly flat. The only slopes are very minor. Heard many birds singing all along the path. Saw and identified perhaps a quarter of what we heard. Definitely worth a trip back -- and soon. Take insect repellent. No restrooms, but port-o-toilet in park across the street when we were there. Port-o-toilets were not wheelchair accessible. Website mentions gravel path. The gravel is fine and packed, and would not make wheelchair travel difficult.
