We visited Allenspark Livery during a trip to Colorado in late July, and had a great time! First of all, the horses looked very healthy and well-cared-for (which, sadly, is not something you find at every riding stable). The staff was wonderful, too! Claire was our wrangler for our lunchtime trail ride, and did a great job. Some of the horses from our group were Twigs, Minion, Boone and Crockett (I wanted to take Twigs home with me--such a sweetheart!). All of the horses did very well, the scenery was gorgeous, and lunch was delicious. We would absolutely recommend this stable!

Did the 3 hr ride with Allenspark Livery and had a great time. Ben, our groups' wrangler/guide, expertly sized up our group of 5 and put us on horses to match each person's personality and riding ability. The ride was through meadows, forest, creeks, and up and down mountain trails. It didn't take long to feel like Ben was an old buddy, he was full of interesting stories about the horses' history, behaviors, and general horse handling wisdom. He was careful and attentive, making sure each group member's tack was properly adjusted as the ride progressed. It's evident the horses are well trained and well cared for. The horses all had enough spunk to keep things interesting but mellow enough to make you feel safe atop them. Highly recommend this outfit, and their prices are good too.

It was a busy weekend in the summer, but they were able to accomodate a group of three with not much notice (but best to make reservation on a weekend in the summer). The horses seemed well cared for and our guide was very nice and helpful. She took photos of us. We signed up for the hour long trek and the scenery was beautiful. Weather was perfect that weekend too. They have little purse-like things to hang on your saddle in which you can put your camera and wallet and a small bottle of water. We didn't act quickly enough but you can buy carrots for like a dollar and feed your horse after the trip, but you need to speak up before they put the horses in the pen.

My husband, daughter and I recently rode at Allenspark livery. It is a great place to ride with excellent horses and beautiful views! The horses are well mannered and I would say good for a rider of any experience level. We happen to have extensive experience trail riding our own horses, which are too far from the Rockies to bring with us so we have ridden several places in this area and Allenspark livery is at the top of our list. The staff are friendly and helpful. My daughter, although an experienced rider, is mentally challenged, and so Claire, our guide was very helpful in aiding her with her horse. Of all the places I've ridden in this area, this has the best views and smaller numbers of people on your ride, making it a personal experience you won't forget. The horses we had were very sensible and responsive to us, which we appreciate. My best advice for anyone riding is be honest about your riding experience. Riding a well trained horse still isn't like sitting on a couch so take a shorter ride if you don't ride often. Your body will thank you! If you're worried about trying out riding, this is the place to be because these are really good people and horses so you'll have a great experience!

My two granddaughters had their first riding experience. One was delighted from the beginning, and was given a great horse that took good care of her. The other changed her mind several times because she is very nervous around big animals. The staff was very patient with her, and Compass made sure that everything was done to make her feel comfortable (gave her the best horse, had the leader "pony" her to start with, and an extra guide go the first quarter mile up the hill, so there was an option for her to go back early. She truly enjoyed her first ride, and was on her own riding at the end. Both girls are ready to ride again. Thanks Claire, Compass, and Greg!

While we were in Estes Park, CO last week, my husband and four granddaughters went horse back riding at Allenspark Livery of Sombrero. They rode for two hours and have an absolutely wonderful time. Claire, who they met while there was also from Indiana and and goes to Purdue University where we are from. I would highly recommend contacting them and going horse back riding if you are in the area.

We did a 3-hour ride with two people and had an amazing time. Claire was very kind and made us feel very comfortable. The views were spectacular as you might imagine. The horses all seemed well-kept and loved for. The stable was easy to find on the main road in Allenspark. I highly recommend this stable.

Amazing horse back riding experience! Greg was our wrangler, who provided great information about the terrain, horses, and history of the area. This was the highlight of our trip to Estes Park. My husband and I did a 2 hour ride with our 2 children, ages 8 and 10. It was the perfect ride!

This is a smaller stable operation, away from the crowds in the National Park. Nice small groups, great guides (thanks Ben!), beautiful horses and setting. We took a trail ride with 4 kids (ages 6, 8, 10, and 18 and all were delighted. We had a range of riding experience from first-time to experienced rider and they all had a wonderful time. Stop for breakfast or lunch at the Meadow Mountain cafe or Tapestry coffee shop up the road, you won't be disappointed! Allenspark is charming!

This was my first horseback riding experience, and I was thrilled! I did the three hour morning ride (starting at 8am), and the guide was patient, reliable, and really pleasant!Highly recommended, even with children!!

The Allenspark livery is the best place for horseback riding that I have been to. It is very personable and has absolutely gorgeous views of the mountains and valleys. You get the great experience without the huge crowd. All the wranglers, especially Claire, she is the best, are very knowledgeable and friendly. They will make you feel comfortable and respected. Claire will ensure that you have the best ride possible and is not your average guide that only points out the boring stuff. The horses there are kind, responsive, and interactive. I would definitely recommend this to anyone from 2 to 89 who loves riding to come and enjoy! I know that I will for sure be back to visit the place and request Claire again! ~Nicole

This adventure was more than amazing, the guides (Ben, and Greg) were so funny and full of energy, and stories. The horses had spirit, but were well trained, over all this was incredible, and we intend to come back.
