The upper loop trail is relatively flat and accessible. The trail down into Fiery Gizzard gets very, very steep right off the bat--please don't try it wearing flip flops! Once you're down by the stream, it's a moderate level of difficulty.

falls were very low on water flow, but still walked down. Steps on the steep side for those over 60 years young

The place speaks for itself. It's breathtaking! Take your group hiking there. There are plenty of trails for every ability level.

This seemingly small area is the doorway to the wonders of the Fiery Gizzard section of South Cumberland State Park. From the trial head you can access miles of hiking. Some of the best swimming holes are close within a short walk.

Very nice area for a great hike. Do not follow Google Maps or anything that has to do with Seal Rd. Google maps took us to a private road that ended in a driveway. If you follow the directions on the park website you should be fine. Make sure you have good shoes as a good portion of even the "easy" trail is very rocky and rooty. Nice falls ranging from decent size to nice rolling ones.If you go on any trail other than the two mile loop make sure you bring some water as it is a good workout. Happened to see a park ranger at the trail head and while out on the trail. Super helpful and very nice. You do have to sign in and out at the trail head.There is limited parking, but you can park on the grass and there is a small overflow lot just outside the gate. There is a picnic shelter and restrooms. They do have some very primitive hike in camp sites. Plenty of streams. That is you water source so you do need to be prepared for purification.Very young children may find it difficult to walk. Several of the trails traverse streams. We had not had a recent big rain and were able to get across on the rocks. Well worth a drive to this park.

We went to geologic Stone Door, 1 mile, and Laurel Falls, .3 mile, rather steep. Still not to strenuous for active seniors.

Hiking, streams and waterfalls. We walked in the snow covered trails and even though it was cold, enjoyed the woods and streams

We came in at Foster Falls and camped about 2 miles in from there. Then, we hiked to Fiery Gizzard and in general just had a great time there with the guys...will do this one, again!

We hiked the Grundy Forest Loop and hiked to Sycamore Falls and we loved this area. Trail is rocky in areas and has a lot of exposed roots but it is not a bad trail if you take your time.With the Grundy Forest loop and the Fiery Gizzard coming off the loop you can take as long of a hike as you want. Starting from the trail head to the left of the picnic shelter you are only a few steps from being down below the bluff and seeing the creek. There are a lot of Cascades and waterfalls to enjoy along the creeks and I am sure some wonderful places to swim in the summer time. We hiked 4.5 miles in 3.5 hours taking our time to enjoy the waterfalls and take plenty of pictures

One of the most beautiful trails in Tennessee or anywhere in the country. We've hiked it MANY times and never tire of it.
