I love the Count Basie Theater. It's a beautifully redone old theater. They have great shows. There are plenty of really great restaurants within walking distance. If I have one criticism it's the lines for the restrooms at intermission time. They are long.

It is great to have.the opportunity to experience some good to excellent music in nearby Red Bank. Over the years, I have been lucky enough to see performers ranging from Diana Ross to Preservation Hall musicians from New Orleans to Hall and Oates at this renovated theatre. It has been refurbished so that one can appreciate the beautiful theatre it was when it opened many decades ago.

I purchased tickets for a concert being held at the Count Basie Theatre. While the venue was very nicely done some of the seats need some work. Specifically as you ascend the stairs to the more moderately priced seat, you would think you are in a totally different place. The seats were quite close to each other and there was a metal railing along the front of the seat, which served to only further restrict ones ability to relax. The railing was an excellent coat rack for our outer garments though. The show was quite entertaining. nonetheless. I had previously attended shows at this venue but never in the section, I sat this night. I will however return to attend other shows but, I will make sure that I am sitting on the lower level on near the stage itself.

This past Sunday my family of 5 with 4 year old grand daughter were fortunate to attendCount Basie Orchestra with Voices of New York playing at Count Basic Theatre. The show wasgreat and the Count Basie theatre as a music venue was also great. We bought balcony seats which provided excellent view of the show below at reduced price of $30 a ticket. I believe orchestra seats were $50. The guy you leads people to their seats told us the balcony gives better acoustics than the lower seats. That was the great part of our visit. There were a few issues with our visit.First, we called the theatre and found they insist everyone buy a ticket even children who sit in your lap. The reason given was that the fire department insists on it so they have a head count of how many are in the theatre. If they need a head count they could have offerred child lap ticket at reduced price or free. It did not make a lot of sense to buy $50 ticket for a child that will not occupy a seat. So we brought her the lowest price seat at $25 in the upper balcony– which she will not be sitting in, while the adults sat in the higher price tickets. However on the day of the event there were only two rows of people in the balcony so we were told to just sit anywhere in the balcony. So we could have bought $25 ticket for everyone and sat in the same place that day.Second, the seats are made for children to seat in. The rows are so close the legs of all the adults were on top of the seat in front of me. Good we could sit anywhere in the balcony so we took seats with no one in front or to the side of us. I also found the same is true of the men’s room urinals. They are so close that your elbows push against the shield between the urinals. Like it was designed just for skinny adults and children only. Third, is that the concession stand has a minimum $15 purchase to buy anything. All we wanted was popcorn. We would go back to Count Basie since there are so few venues like that in our area of NJ. But we would try to go when theatre is not busy.As a Tip: Red Bank parking is free after 6PM Mon to Sat and Free all Day on Sundays. There is a large parking lot on White Street between Maple and Broad street about a block away, in front of the Hobby shop with some great restaurant around it. I recommend the Teak Asian fusion restaurant on Monmouth St inside of that parking lot. Go to http://www.countbasietheatre.org/visit/parking.asp

The Count Basie is a grand old theater with good acoustics and nice seating. Small enough that most any seat is good, but large enough to host major shows. A highlight of Red Bank.

the theatre could use a little work but the seats we had were amazing and its such a small theatre that I don't see how you can go wrong !

The Count Basie Theater is a Red Bank jewel, named for the legend, Count Basie, who grew up here. The theater was refurbished and has an elegant feeling of years gone by.The entertainment runs the gamut from the Nutcracker Ballet, during the Christmas holidays, to country western musicians, comedians and psychics. Even the "Dog Whisperer" appeared here!Check their website . . . don't miss a chance to enjoy one of your favorite performers.

I have been to many shows at the Count Basie and consider it one of the best kept secrets in Monmouth County. Since the restoration in 2008, they have attracted some fantastic talent. We took our kids to see Wild Kratts just a few weeks ago and my wife and I are headed to see Diana Krall in a few weeks. The theatre is in Red Bank which has a wide selection of restaurants or you can find a great bar to have a cocktail before/after the show. It would be a mistake not to follow the line up for the Count Basie!

My wife and I have attended a number of events at this theater including Lewis Black, a one man show of A Bronx Tale and Jim Gaffigan just last month. The Count Basie is beautiful theater with an intimate atmosphere. It was built back when architecture was considered an art form. In 2008 they spend $8 million to restore the theater back to it“s original grandeur. They offer a wide variety of entertainment which should please just about everyone. There is a municipal parking garage just 2 blocks away. If you get the chance to see one of your favorite acts, jump at the opportunity. You will be glad you did.

I am constantly amazed at the BIG names that play our "little" theater. I have never seen a bad show or had a bad seat/experience, in all the years we've been coming here. Parking is easy and restaurants are in an abundance. The perfect date, family, day or night out.

Received tickets to The Impractical Jokers' tour and had the late show on Saturday night. Sat in the balcony. Seats were spectacular if a little jammed in. Still, as old as this place looks, the lighting and sound are terrific. Every seat's a good one. And the theater hosts good shows. Probably going to get tix for Diana Krull. Came here recently to see Lewis Black.

This theatre is a great place to see a show. They have all types of preformances and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. They have completely restored the inside of the theatre and it is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is jus the cherry ontop.
