Everyone saying they don't like the lake or say they don't stock it are wrong I'm there alot of times and there are always fish there and half the times I've been there they stocked at the same time so don't hate because you don't know how to fish and couldn't catch one soar losers

If you love to fish, want somewhere close with great amenities and lots of fish for a decent price go to Sandia Lakes. Best kept secret in New Mexico.

Alavega

No fishin at this "hole". I cannot stress the importance of never going here. You will pay close to the price of a years license for one day of not catching fish, unless you count one dying carp as fish. Even if you catch your limit ( you won't ) it will still be cheaper buying lobster. I'm embarrassed to think that tourists might judge our state by this trap.

We have stayed here many times in the past 5 years and used to really enjoy it. They have now let all the grass die, some trees are near death, and weeds are abundant and seldom pulled by maintenance personnel. When we asked why they were no longer caring for the RV sites we were told it was because of the drought. Amazingly, they water frequently at the neighboring golf course but never at the RV park. Because of the obnoxious trains at all hours of the day and night, seems like they would want to make it as nice as possible to make up for it. Have noticed the RV park has much fewer people visiting now and believe this may be why. Certainly not very inviting anymore. Think we may find another place to stay in the future, perhaps in Santa Fe.

I have fished this Lake often, and there are some days you get a lot, some days you don't. I'm not sure what people on here expect. They aren't going to attach them to your hook for you. Fishing is a hit or miss proposition. Its a good place to relax. It is pricy, so be ready to pay. Not as pricy as Sandia Lakes up north, so that is a plus.

During the week dirt haulers kicked up dust from road. They are working on landscaping around the lakes. But it still is a pleasant place to stay. Staff friendly & very helpful. Spaces large enough to accommodate large rigs. Sewer poorly located - too far back to line up sewer connection. Train station on border of park so noisy but no traffic or city noise to contend with. Lakes a big plus - nice for 1+ mile walk. Lots of waterfowl - even eagles roosting late afternoon thru night. They were running a special - get 3rd night free so price was reasonable for the area. Would come back.

Our RV is a class A diesel pusher. We hadn't stayed here before, so we drove to it in our car to look at the Isleta RV park. We drove up to the guard shack and asked if we would be able to drive through the park and check it out. To my surprise he said no, unless you go in the office/store and pay, or just have the cashier explain the RV park. We asked the cashier since we cannot drive through without paying, can we walk through the park? She sternly said no, as if we were breaking a law or something. All other RV parks we have stayed at, Never had a problem with us checking out the park before paying to stay. We found it to be a very unfriendly, unwelcoming, inhospitable atmosphere from the staff of Isleta RV park, and decided not to stay there, or ever stay there. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this was ours.

I have been to Isleta Lakes many times and the fishing can range from slow to WOW. Keep in mind that it's catfish during the hot months and trout during the cold. I have always enjoyed a day at the lakes, until yesterday, and it had nothing to do with fishing. There is a clerk at the convenience store whose lack of intelligence is surpassed only by her lack of customer service skills. I went into the store to purchase a bottled water. The BIG SIGN on the the cooler stated "Dasani bottled water $1.35." Fair enough. When I checked out I was charged $1.85. I informed to the clerk that I was overcharged and she rudely informed me that there was nothing that she could do since my card had already run through. "Huh, the sign clearly shows that the water is $1.35?" Her response: "That's has to do with the vendor. I can't do anything about it." I then asked "What about the sign?" She shrugged her shoulders which basically meant that I was SOL. Frustrated, I told her that what is she had charged me $100 then what? Is there no way to offer a refund or reverse the charge? There happened to be a security guard present and she yelled out to him "This is the second time today that I'm being harrassed." The guard came over and I explained my frustration. He went to check out the sign while a fellow clerk kindly offer me .50 cents out of her own pocket. I said "No, Thanks" and walked out. It wasn't the money. It's the principle and the fact that someone in the service industry could be so clueless and rude. I'm also sad. My family and I go to Isleta several times a year and now I won't go back. I guess we both lose. "

Beautyful. spacious. easy in and out. gated with gaurd. with friendly staff. Close to casino and restaurants. Train comes through every hour day and night. Not a good stop for the road weary traveler looking for a night sleep. Better off dry camping on the road. Though after a couple nights listening to the train you may want to stay at the hotel.......master plan?

hello, i love isleta lakes.. no i dont work for them or anything like that. on that note i will say it is alittle pricey..... 16 bucks for one day..... anyway everytime i go to isleta lakes i catch my limit. The reason i go to isleta is because i love to catch bass. and although they may not advertise they have huge bass here... ive caught a 7 pound bass and a few 5 and 6 pound bass here.. if its not bass.. its trout.. 15-19 inches in my experience. i see so many bad reviews for this lake.... they mush not know how to fish.. or not using the right bait. i am using a 6 dollar orange belly lour i got from walmart.. and thats it. i pull them out like clockwork. my most recent trip was 3 days ago and i had to buy 2 licenses because i was catching so many fish. which i had no problem paying because i was having a blast. like i said 10 out of 10.. will be back monday.

Nice RV park, with full services, good cable TV, best wi-fi we've found in weeks, neat and clean little laundry, nice bathrooms and showers. It's a bit pricey but, IMO, worth it for the location and convenience. The train whistles are noisy, but no place is perfect.

The spaces are spacious. The grounds need upkeep. There was a lot of trash around and the vegetation needs sprucing up. The rate per night is quite high for this area. They do not take reservations which is a negative to me. The staff was helpful. The fishing lakes make a nice attraction and a nice place to get a good walk in. The leash law needs to be enforced.

This is a very nice park to stay at in Albuquerque. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is less than 15 min outside of town and is in a very quiet area. While there is no road noise, there is the train that stops in front of the park and will take you into town, Santa Fe or destinations south. So be prepared for the frequent train whistle! There is also a shuttle that runs to the Casino and back. The park is clean with nice size level sites that come with a covered picnic table and grill. The grills are poorly placed though and made it hard for us to stretch out our 4 slides. WIFI worked well. Laundry and bathrooms were large and clean. The shower area could use more privacy; there are no patricians between it and the rest of the bathroom. There are no benches for bags or cloths and only a couple of hooks to be shared by four stalls. Two lakes and a nice walking trail with benches and bathrooms are adjacent to the park. This park has 24 hour security and you cannot check in after the office closes and must show your site registration after hours. We stayed here in a 40ft class A and would stay here again.

They Dont really Stock this lake and --it shows!-- Most old folks go here to drop a line in the water to get nothing but sleep and a tan! Yea $10,000 fishing derby, well if you own the lake You can chance it the offer of a big sum of money by never stocking it and never putting in the "tagged" fish! a properly stocked lake should be overflowing at the sides with fish. hey Isletta 90% fish 10% water equals alot less boredom and alot more fun!!!!!!!!! IF YOU GO TO ISLETA FOR THE TAN bring your goodies , alot of em and cold drinks and a cooler, otherwise you will empty your wallet fast.
