Made from an old Walmart store (that was donated) this is huge! Try to get to the market on the weekends

The library is a converted Walmart, and is bright, airy, has a ton of space and every year they add more titles. Staff are helpful. The worst part is they tend not to have the most recent titles available. Limited selection of books on DVD. Good genealogy department.

We were intrigued to see what this library was all about, since we heard the building started out as a Walmart store. Very impressive, indeed. The children's section was massive and the main section has some comfortable seating areas, access to computers for sourcing, and more than one help desk manned by a warm body. I really liked the half-level shelves in some of the areas that allowed a view across the huge main room, plus allowed for a place to set your purse, and open up books for review at a standing height. The library is still a work in progress with lots of shelves still to be filled... and the cafeteria should open soon. Overall a wonderful facility, with a beautiful fountain and greenspace entrance, and oodles of parking.

The staff is always friendly, personable and helpful. We love story time with Miss Diana. Christina, Victor and Eric are very helpful, as well. It's a great place for me to do my private tutoring lessons. We're there on a weekly basis... at least!

I was told by my relatives that this was an old Walmart redone, so of course I had to check it out.Wow, is all I can say. I have seen many abandoned Walmarts which make me sad. The city of McAllen did a great job in changing this to a beautiful building. It is very spacious and very quiet inside. Lots of neat places to hang out. There is a cafe coming which I will visit the next time I am in McAllen.

It is very convenient and well organized. It is a comfortable place to go. There are plenty of computers available without having to wait.

This library is the biggest I've ever seen. of course it was a Wal-mart. It is also very up to date. Also its very pretty. The changes they made to the architecture look great

Beautiful and well stocked. Large computer room...over fifty computers available for public use, fax and copy services...nice children's section. Great place to hangout.

Enjoyed my visit there, beautiful facility, liked the book sale, bought lots... wish the chairs at the tables were a little more comfortable, but it has a great selection, lots of updated facilities, and even a Farmers Market on Saturdays. Will be back next visit!

Beautiful place for adults, teens, and kids of all ages who love to read and enjoy a friendly atmosphere. I love the library!

Was surprised at how they transformed the old Walmart into the public library. The have better study rooms, DVD rentals, computer lab and more places to sit and relax while reading or studying. Much better than the old library.

123,000 ft2, how that sound?from dvds, books, audio books, public computers, resting areas, an modern design and facade, its a must if you visit McAllen,i am proud to have it in my town

My husband and I joined the library in McAllen and was really amazed how big and beautiful the building is. The staff where very helpful and they had a whole big room dedicated to computers. The whole library was full of wonderful natural light because of all the big windows.

Well...I love libraries...However, I don't like this library very much...You can find many books, yes...But, I don't like the decoration, the setting...It is not warm...The place is not cozy and does not invite you to sit for hours and read THERE.....You find the book and take it home..

I was only here briefly to get internet access. This library is big and spacious. I wish Iived closer to use this library all the time. I wish more communities would reuse discarded Walmart buildings.
