If you have ANY interest in Civil War history, spend sone time in this gorgeous town and tour this fascinating house. Inch for inch, Lexington offers more history than any place in the USA and this house is like stepping into a time machine. I confess I hail from a yankee state but we all know the south had the most interesting generals and none was more so than Stonewall Jackson. Tour this house and you'll feel like you met him. Really. The docents are gracious and knowledgeable. You'll want to tarry and they will let you! Wow, just wow.

From the outside a simple home, on the inside, a giant of the history books comes alive! To see where Stonewall Jackson came after a days work to reflect, greet visitors, and live/sleep was amazing. And to compare how he lived to how modern conveniences of today are so different, gives a great appreciation for how people lived in the mid to late 1800s!

Beautiful place, cool history, and the ladies that work there are so nice and knowledgeable. They knew a ton about the area and were extremely helpful.

Very neat to see the history of stonewall Jackson. I learned a lot on this tour here and had a great time at the museum. I love how everything was restored to look updated yet you could still picture yourself back in time during that lifestyle. Loved seeing the garden and all the beauty within stonewall jacksons life. Must see if in Lexington!

Not much going on in Lexington on Sunday so we were glad to find this open. The garden was restored and very interesting. We enjoyed the tour of the home and the orginal furnishing -what a treat to see the home as it really was. After a short film in the basement we were escorted thru the house by a guide who told us just enough about Jackson's life to appreciate the man, his home and want t know more about the town.

It was nice to see this home although Jackson only lived there a short time. Nice kitchen garden and some of his artifacts were in the home. Informative.

We were very interested in Stonewall Jackson's home and the historical information it contained . However , our tour guide was rude, opinionated, and barely spoke over a whisper. She had an accent making it very difficult to understand. Someone in our party accidentally left a cell phone on and she came unglued. And when we touched an item that WAS NOT behind glass or ropes or had a no touching sign on it , she actually screamed and stomped her feet!! Thanks but no thanks lady... We had rather read about stonewall jackson than walk your guided tour!!

We enjoyed touring Stonewall Jackson's home, and the guide was very knowledgeable. We didn't get to the cemetery due to rainy weather, but the home and back garden was very interesting. A must see if you are in the area.

Both the desk person and the docent treated this northern couple very nicely. The docent was very informative and knowledgeable. Though the home is small you do view both floors. However there are few of Jackson's personal possessions.

Our tour was great!. There is so much more to this man than just his military fame. I didn't know he had been a professor at the Virginia Military Academy there, and his wife was the Principals daughter. He was so dedicated to be a good teacher, he would turn his chair to the wall each night,(sign to not be disturbed) so he could totally memorize his whole lesson. He was highly educated, and extremely intelligent,(cute too). Mr. Jackson and his lovely wife are buried right there in Lexington Virginia in the family cemetery. We bought souvenirs in the gift shop. We were not allowed to taking food, drink, or packages into the home, but they kept them safe and sound for us until we returned. I especially hope all teachers,(especially history teachers,) to not miss this one.

The tour of Stonewall Jackson's historic home in Lexington VA took us back in time! The guide was very knowledgeable and made the history "come alive". Why wasn't it this interesting in high school history class?? Some of the furniture, books and other memorabilia were originals. Highly recommended.

This is the only home Stonewall Jackson owned and he lived here for 10 years before joining the Confederate Army in 1861. Excellent guided tour of house.done on the half hour, many artifacts and pictures and a well done film. A great way to learn more about this famous general. Admission with AAA membeship is $7.

This is a must stop if in Lexington. This house is worth seeing. The only down fall is they only show 1/2 of the house. The tour guide we had was very opinionated. She only told her views of Jackson & his family & life. I didn't care for her. But the house is worth seeing.

The Stonewall Jackson house is an important part of Stonewall Jackson's personal history. The guide provided an excellent demonstration of Jackson's life prior to the war. It is a great complement to your battlefield touring schedule.

It's a rather small house as places you might tour go, but the guide gave an excellent presentation and it was fun. There is also a small gift shop with a good selection of Stonewall Jackson items.
