First off, I would like to point out that the nice folks at Martin's gave our family (and two other parties) a tour this past Tuesday even though they told me that they normally don't do tours the 2 weeks surrounding Labor Day. So thank you again!A very nice elderly factory employee named Blair Norris took us on the tour which lasted for about an hour. We started the tour outside as he told us a little about the history of the company and as he showed us where the trucks unload the raw potatoes by the side of the building. The majority of the tour was then held inside the building. We saw the production line, packaging area and the warehouse area; these were all located in the same building. Blair also offered all of us fresh samples of regular chips, kettle chips and sweetened popcorn fresh from the production line. (He informed us that Martin's only manufactures potato chips and popcorn.)At the conclusion of the tour, Blair invited everyone to take a free snack bag of chips from their tiny factory store and said all store purchases would be 10% off.Although our family enjoyed this tour, we enjoyed the Herr's factory tour (located NOWHERE NEAR this tour) slighty more. But both are very good tours if you're vacationing in the Lancaster, PA area like we were. Keep in mind that Martin's is a much smaller operation than Herr's (or nearby snack competitors Utz and Snyder's) so it's a more down-home, personal tour. We had a very nice visit and once again thank Martin's for allowing us to tour their facility during their usual no-tours period and would also like to thank Blair Norris for his time and for a very nice and informative tour.

Great factory store which can ship products. Easy to find on route 30 ...Will find specials not found in stores. When in the area have chips shipped to family in Chicago..since we lived in York for 18 years this was one of the products we came to love..especially the Barbeque chips.

Be sure to call and make a reservation. Tours are only offered at three times on Tuesdays only. We were lucky that we were able to be included with another group. The tour was great! You are shown the entire process to make potato chips. We even were able to see the truck unload the potatoes. Our tour guide, Louise was very friendly and informative. We were served fresh potato chips and kettle corn hot off the assembly line. yummy!! They have a small store selling their chips, popcorn and other items made by others.

Nice people, great tour. Take the time to do it. There is also a store that you can stop in an take chips home. Hope you got the room in the car.

This was a great tour. It started outside where we learned the history of Martin's. We were then taken inside and watched how a person sorts the good from the bad potatoes, saw the chips being fried, put into a conveyor belt and taken up for packaging. We then toured the warehouse and learned how items are packed and shipped. At the end we were given a small bag of chips (we chose which one from a variety) and then had the opportunity to purchase chips.

Recently visited the Martin's Potato Chip Company for a tour with a preschool group. I've been through several manufacturing tours and I have to say, this really was informative for both myself as well as the kids. Unlike a lot of other tours, you really were in the guts of the operation. Of course, the best part was at the end of the tour when they give you fresh, hot potato chips right off the line.

Best tour to see potato chips made. You go right on the floor and see everything. No looking through windows or being high up in a glass case, tour is great. Only issue is that tours happen only on Tuesdays in the morning and early afternoon. Reservations are a must. Tour was awesome.

Omg, these chips are my ultimate favorite!!! One of my friends moved to Michigan and he begs me to send them to him. Best crunch ever.

I am in LOVE with the Kettle Cooked Chips.....I am addicted to them.

We live nearby and have done the tour twice. It's less than an hour, and free. You see the chips being made up close and sometimes get to sample warm ones. I would not stop for it, but if you need to fill time, it is decent.

About ten years ago we went on this tour with our three older children, so when planning our vacation to this area this tour was a must. It didn't let us down. All five of my kids along with my husband enjoyed this tour that you walk in the actual factory and sample chips right off the line. It was awesome.

Martin's Potato Chip in Thomasville, PA is the best factory York county offers. It is a 'smaller' plant, but you actually get to see the manufacturing process, mostly not from behind glass and (this is the best) you actually get to go down on the line and get chips hot and fresh off the line!!If you are looking for a factory tour in the area, go, you'll love it.
