the view from the top of moro rock is breathtaking. but it is a long steep climb to the top. and if you are squeemish about hights it may not be for you.

We had a mixed flock come through as we climbed up the rock. Eye level views of orange crowned kinglet, red-breasted nuthatch, mt chickadee and more. The view west towards the coast on a fog filled valley day was awesome.

Smog, tough climb and lots of people blah blah blah! My family and I made it to the top in like 20 min. We were haulin it too because we wanted to catch the sunset. Out of shape? Yes. Winded? Yes. Worth every huff puff and all the pain for moving so fast? Yes. Here's the thing... The viewpoint is on a rock on the edge of a mountain. When you get there you already know there is going to be some kind of activity involved. If you can walk, you can make it up there. This talk about smog... Your like 89 miles or so from Bakersfield and I don't know exactly but like 195 miles from LA... Where do you think that stuff is going to go? Welcome to 2015 and a thing called transportation and heavy industry. Anyway, this place is amazing and you should definitely make the stop and stair step your self up to the top. Do it at anytime and it's great... Do it at sunset and it's epic! I'm out!!!

Watched the Pleiades meteor shower from up here a few years ago. It's a great hike and the scenery is fantastic. Do it!

lots of steps, but 5 year olds and old ladies were doing it! well worth once at the top! there were eager little squirrels begging for food, gorgeous rock formations, and a beautiful canyons to be seen! this is a must do easy stop on the tram.

It's a climb to the top, but worth the view - Even if you just go up partway. You can see all around you - up to the top of the mountains to the valley below.

Somehow I missed the reviews of Moro Rock when I was researching our trip. When we stopped at the visitor center and asked about hikes this was one they recommended. During the winter the road back to the rock is closed so we had walk in. Though it took more time and cut down on other things we could have done I think it is the way to go. Walking through the giant tree forest sets the stage for the walk/climb/hike up Moro Rock. The path switchbacks up the rock. We thought we were almost at the top several times but kept finding more steps. Upon reaching the top the view was breathtaking. On one side you have mountains fairly close by. On the other, you see the road you drove up to get there, the valley you drove through to get there and then in the distance another set of mountains. I consider this trail a must do when in Sequoia National Park.

If you're not in shape, the climb isn't going to be fun, but once you get to the top, the view is all worth it!

First and foremost-even if you are older, don't believe what you read about this being a difficult climb for older folks. All you need to do is take your time and take some breaks. (there were young children walking all the way up-under supervision and there were older people walking up-under supervision) You will be rewarded. Plus there are railings at most appropriate places. This was one of the top two or three places that our family agreed were the most outstanding parts of our trip. The climb is exciting, the view magnificent.

This rock is unique to the west coast. I have traveled the east and west coasts and this area from central California to upper Oregon has unique features that you will not see on any other coast line. You know that when you see Morro Rock...that there is only one of a kind.

well worth it for the view even though ours what was not crystal clear that day. Favourite point for sunrise/ set

Six of us on our bus tour decided to use our free time to climb Moro Rock. I was the oldest member of our group, but with a few rest breaks made it to the top with no trouble. The views from the top railing are astonishing! There are deliberately cut steps and a safety railing, so it's not like "rock climbing." If you are bothered by heights, you might choose to wait at the base of the rock, at which there are also nice views.

The hike is a bit treacherous when there's snow on the ground but well worth it. actually you are not supposed to go up there when there's snow but we did anyway. The view from above is insane! Hard to describe in words and pictures are nice and all but nothing beats seeing it for yourself.

I loved the view. And the best part of it all was getting to the destination. There are steps and railings so anyone can climb to the top. It was a super easy trail. We had little to zero traffic when going up to the rock. Perhaps because there was thunder rattling before we reached the beginning of the rock trail, and people were coming down for their own safety. That is a big reason why we had no traffic. (Not safe but it was fun having rain come down on you.)Great place for photos and views of the canyons.
