Lovely little stop for an unbelievable view of Lake Tahoe. Stunning photo opportunity not to be missed.

Discovered this gem by reading another travelers review....and SO glad I did!Hidden up the road behind the Biltmore casino. Well worth the hike and have told many folks not to miss it! Spectacular views...thanks to the family who maintains it for travelers such as myself!!

Follow the signs behind the Biltmore for the winding road , as far as you can go. Park on the side of the road and walk to the top. It is an uphill climb, but the panoramic view of the Tahoe basin is worth it. If you like hiking, this is a lovely trail, especially in summer and fall.In the spring, this trail remains icy in many parts , which makes it difficult to walk.There is no fee, so what could be better?

I read about this gem of a lookout on trip advisor and was glad that I did! Its not a well known lookout but should be as the views from it are amazing. Its located just behind the Biltmore casino in Crystal Bay, you turn left off the main road then follow it behind the hotel and around to the right until you get to a green gate. Park anywhere that doesn't block this gate then head up to the lookout. The walk is about half a mile up to the top on a paved road and the views are amazing. There are toilets up the top and seats if you wanted to take a picnic lunch. One of the shortest hikes you can do with the most awesome views. Definitely a must if you are visiting the Tahoe area

We were in Tahoe area for 2.5 days and this was one of our favorite hikes/view. It is located near Biltmore casino on an old fire road. There is a small area for parking on the road (don't block the gate!). This spot is not well known-there were only 2-3 other vehicles when we went. The road is paved and climbs about .5 mile to the top. There are very rewarding views, informational placards, benches and several non paved side trails. This is a cannot miss, family friendly, hike with very rewarding views.

Thankfully we had a tour from a friend in Truckee and they took us to this amazing lookout of Lake Tahoe. Its a good exercise yet anyone can do it and makes a nice short trip. It would probably take you less than an hour going at a very easy rate and stopping to take pictures of the sweeping views.

Location: 39.237347, -120.004081 There's enough parking on the side of the road for about 5 cars, plus some more back down the street a little ways. Been to Lake Tahoe over a dozen times, but never visited here before. It's .75 of a mile from where you park to the top on a paved one lane road at a easy-to-moderate incline. You can cut down the side of the mountain on the way back, which saves a little bit of time and walking if you're agile. Great views of the lake, but the wind was blowing about 50 mph at the top when I was there in mid-September, yet no wind until you got to the very top, so plan ahead and take a jacket. There's restrooms, tables, benches, and a small paved trail around the top of the point. It appears lots of locals walk their dogs here.

A short walk, about a half mile, up a paved fire road to the fire lookout provides beautiful sweeping views of Lake Tahoe. There is also a narrow but level and paved trail that goes around most to the lookout top with plaques giving some history of Lake Tahoe.Very nice and very uncrowned.

I am ashamed to admit I've lived on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe for 36+ years and have just NOW done this hike. It is truly an amazing view from the top - you can see both Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista nearly to Tahoe City and across the lake to Incline. It's about a mile each way. It is UP all the way to the site of the lookout (torn down in the early 2000s), but the view is worth it. I'm 62 and I just took my time. Don't miss the interpretive signs along the loop trail at the top. Ran into a realtor on the way down who informed me that the fire road runs through private property which may be developed and the route cut off for hikers, walkers, picnickers and para-sailers (we ran into a bunch of people with their gear strapped to their backs - they jump off at the top). What a shame that would be.

The hotel told us this secret place. We hiked up there and found a family camping there to watch the July 3rd firework (one day earlier there). Some places looked pretty dangerous, but the view was great. We got lost on our way down and took a couple more hours to find where we parked. If we had stayed there longer, we would certainly have hiked there again.

I've been coming to Tahoe to visit family ever since I was a young kid, but only recently discovered this gem. A short, easy hike with an elevation of over 7,000 feet, the Stateline Lookout (or Fire Trail), isn't easy to find but is definitely worth the trip. For those who are interested and having trouble finding it, head towards Crystal Bay then turn up Reservoir Road behind the Tahoe Biltmore Lodge, and turn right at the firehouse. Continue up the hill until you reach a green metal gate and park on the side of the road. You will generally see other cars- be sure not to block the gate and allow room for other cars to pass and turn around. The views are incredible and for those who're interested in the area's history, there are informational plaques lining the short trails around the top.

Wow. Easy climb and terrific views of the lake. You can leave the main trail and walk down towards the lake of climb on huge rocks for more exercise. Priceless veiws and a great welcome to Tahoe.

Recently travelled the States for several months and - other than the Grand Canyon North Rim and Yosemite (which are both somewhat difficult to book/get to) the views here are unsurpassed. Make sure and ask at tourist info how to get there - there were no signs when we went.

Got a tip about this "off the beaten path" site from another web source and was grateful for it. While it took our family (incl. 4-year-old son) about 45 min. to hike to the cleared overlook area, the view was worth it. The lookout was better-maintained and marked than I had envisioned, but it wasn't too gaudy or over-developed for the sake of accessibility. Nice views can still be had from partway up, if one can't/won't hike to the top.
