WE rode bikes here from Camp Sherman Store. A good 5 miles up and then 5 miles back. NOt hard but some hills. Hatchery was very interesting and kids can feed the fish. The falls were the coolest thing: bright blue waters ! great place for a picnic, and nice to see the history of it all...

This hatchery is in such a beautiful setting. They have a huge pond area and fish pellet food is available......It is wonderful just to walk the grounds and then go down to visit the Metolius River!!!!

Feed the fish in the tanks and the nearby holding lake. Clean, tidy, quiet and beautiful. Very fun for the little ones too.

Amazing water views right at the bridge as you enter. Make sure to go on bridge and just be amazed. No charge for hatchery. Easy walk around small hatching lake, 1/2 mile. Or just go to the main feeding area. Good to picnic here. Nice to ride your bike hear from general store or a camp site.

We took a hike along the Metolius and ended up here at the fish hatchery. What a little slice of heaven. This place is peaceful and beautiful. A great place to take the kids. Lots of fish to feed In the pond and geese galore. It is also a great destination for a picnic lunch.

I live in Bend this is one of my favorite day trips to make. Wizard Falls has a fish hatchery and a wonderful hiking trail and they are also dog friendly! You can feed the fish for a quarter, spend some time strolling around a beautifully maintained man made pond (that's also full of some huge rainbow trout) and then spend some time hiking along the Metolious River that runs along side the hatchery. The river is a gorgeous shade of blue, very clear and the trail is practically free of trash so it feels like you are out in the middle of nowhere. The water can be very cold, and is typically 40 F year round so be careful if you decided to get wet.

Took my grand daughter there on a hot spring day. She is 8 and loved it. The picnic area is beautiful and shady. She loved seeing the different stages of the fish and enjoyed feeding them.

Our main objective was to go hiking on Metolius River, and the trailheads happen to start just outside the fish hatchery. Since we were already there, we decided to check it out. It is a great place for families - informational signs posted everywhere about the types of fish they raise there, along with the ecological concerns about stocking fish, fishing, etc. They have fish food vending machines all over, and it's fun to watch the fish jump for the food. All holding tanks are clearly labelled with the type of fish being raised there. They have toilet facilities and picnic tables, but I did not see even one staff member; I think they staff it very minimally to keep down on costs. It would be a nice place to bring a picnic. As my boyfriend and I are avid hikers, we walked up and down the river from the hatchery. It is absolutely beautiful and there are many opportunities to take gorgeous pictures! The water is freezing cold and a beautiful turquoise blue.

Fun to view all the fish. You can feed them too. Fish food for sale in machines. Great attraction for kids and family.

It's a great compound with many 'ponds' to see the different kinds of fish; chinook, trout, etc. Very clean and well taken care of. There is also a big pond at the far end where "escapees" have gathered. Great way to see how the fishery handles the spawning, rearing and planting of raised fish.

Looking for a quiet spot to visit on a hot afternoon? Wizard Falls on the Metolius River would be the place. Of course the fish are interesting to watch and feed. Grounds are a beautiful park with lawns, picnic tables and a few benches. If you are lucky you will see a bald eagle or osprey snatch a fish from the pond. Be sure to enjoy the aqua marine water rushing through the river channel under the bridge. Good place to spend and hour - or more if you picnic!

Very nice fish hatchery. Pleasant surroundings with signage to explain things. Fish food available and the kids were loving it. Very quiet setting.

We spent an hour or so wandering around the hatchery and it was mildly interesting. There are no tours but there are signs that explain things well. There are machines that dispense fish food for a quarter for the kids of all ages who want to feed the fish.

Exciting to go to the hatchery. The kids love this place. We all enjoy feeding the fish and gawking at the "big ones".

Great area to stop as you travel up/down the mountain. Beautiful scenery, interesting to see the different sizes/types of fish. Perfect place to take a rest from driving or camping in the area.
