very romantic park to walk at night with your partner . We go there every time we visit the area. Very close to the beach.

This is a small park dedicated to the Tequesta Indians who had buried their dead at the memorial mound many years ago . it overlooks the Intracoastal & Lake Santa Barbara. My wife & I often include this area on our morning walk. It's peaceful, shady, and a great spot to have a picnic lunch, especially across the street at the waterfront,Ronald P.

It is an interesting piece of history and culture but not much information is written about the Mound. If you are in the area it is worth viewing but do not expect too much.

AdvicePro

This prehistoric Indian Mound Park honors the ancestors of the Tequesta Indians who used to bury the bones of their ancestors all together in large piles. It is within view of the intracoastal waterway. It is now covered with grass and in the middle of the mound is a small pedestal with a plaque on it saying that it was created as a ceremonial burial place about 1300 AD. Surrounding the green grassy hill and central plaque is small path and a couple benches. In front of the benches are 2 pedestals with more information about the mound. Large leafy green trees surround the mini-park making it a shady spot for reflection and rest. It was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places.(Only the 2nd place in Pompano listed).Note: Parking is limited -- there are a few spaces along the street parallel to the intracoastal.
