A great local beach fashioned from an old area quarry. Great way to spend a summer afternoon with the family.

Approximately 155,000 folks a year go to Centennial Beach in Naperville IL and agree with me that the beach offers families a fun and safe summer experience. The beach is within an abandoned, double quarry alongside the DuPage River. The facility covers almost 6 acres with two acres allocated to swimming available in water from Lake Michigan. There is a sandy beach next to the shallow end of the pool which offers a zero-depth entry. There is a slide and 2 water spouts that shoot up water for children to play in. The water gets deeper as you walk further into the pool. In the 4 feet area there are 3 lanes for lap swimmer’s. The shallow end also has an area called the “channel.” This area is right next to the deep end and the diving boards. In the channel there is a pool lift for people who cannot use the ladders to get into the pool. The deep end of the beach has 2 floating rafts in the middle for swimmers to swim out to. The deep end also has two one-meter springboards and one three-meter board. Centennial Beach is a public aquatic park located at 500 W. Jackson Avenue in Naperville, Illinois.

We have our annual Family and Friends picnic here every July. The staff is always polite and helpful. They maintain the beach, clubhouse and grass areas in the best of condition. They have an adult time on the weekends and it's the perfect time to just relax and enjoy time alone, or with someone special.

Naperville is known for upscale everything. The people that visit Naperville expect upscale. This is a nice place and they charge a fee to keep the undesirables out.

This was a nice place, once I got past the $10 per person fee for non-Naperville residents. This is a very large pool with a deep area that is separated from the shallower part. You have to take a test to swim in the deep area, so plan your visit accordingly, as they only seem to offer these tests every few hours. My kids loved the sand area, which is huge! There are many Adirondack chairs scattered throughout the grounds and tons of grass to lay on. The bathrooms are clean, and there is a grill on site for food. We had a good time, but I just wish it was a little less expensive for visitors.

Big refurb quarry for swimming and plenty of parking near the riverwalk! Nice places to lay around all throughout the beach on both grass and sand!

Paid $10/head (over 2yrs) and it was worth every penny. Outstandingly clean locker rooms. Green grass with shade. Free parking. Lifeguards. No alcohol. Reasonable snack bar. Wish we had this in our town. Spend the $ and enjoy the sun.

Travel back in time and enjoy a swim in Naperville's "swimming hole" This used to be a quarry from a hundred years ago that has been turned into a modern day swimming pool. There is tons of grass to spread your blanket on and to enjoy a picnic and spend the day swimming in the sun.

LOTS of room to swim, play ground, sand beach, generous free parking, snak bar, plenty of lifeguards, deep end (12') swimming required a swim test, loys of limestone in the bath house. A former Quarry just west of downtown.

Centennial Beach is an old quarry next to the DuPage river that has been converted to a swimming area complete with a sandy beach. It is one of the only places in the area that has diving boards, and it is great for all ages. The little kids love the big sandbox and the zero depth end of the water, and the teens love the diving boards. One of the best features about this park is that there are lots of trees, so you can choose to sit in the sun or in the shade. It is also located very close to the skate park, so there is a lot to do for teens. The plus is it is very popular, the minus is that it can sellout on sunny days. They have a couple snack stands and you can bring in your own picnic. When the kids were small we used to go in the late afternoon after the teens had left and eat a dinner picnic ~ Centennial Beach is a great way to spend a sunny day.

Centennial Beach is a fun place for all ages. It's affordable, has a grille to order food, sand, water features, volleyball...and it's fun to watch the kids go off the diving boards! Great lifeguards, too, keeping everyone safe.

Great quarry converted into a local pool. One end allows you to swim in the quarry section where you can float on small rafts or use the diving boards and the other end is like a small beach and wading area for young children. Really fun place, always pretty clean!

We love going to the beach in the summer! You can pack food and drinks and hang out for the day. The lifeguards are great and the staff is mostly friendly. You do have to get there very very close to opening time in order to get chairs. Getting an umbrella is almost impossible. It also can get very crowded on the weekends so be prepared for that. The season pass is inexpensive and the resident rate is worth the cost!

We've summered at the Beach for over 20 years. When our daughter was younger, we'd pack a picnic and enjoy this beautiful, clean property with a zero depth water entry at the sandy shore, which gradually turns into 15 feet depth for diving, swimming or just relaxing on the secured floating piers. Now my husband and I spend every weekend going early to enjoy the tranquility of adult float. They have umbrellas and deck chairs, but those go quickly. There are spouting water elements and plenty of sandy area for the kids to enjoy. The food from the concession area is good, but a tad pricey. There is a large grassy area surrounding the water for sunning, relaxing under the trees, picnicking or playing games, including a sand pit volleyball area. Something here for all ages. It's located close to downtown Naperville for shopping, restaurants, strolling the Riverwalk and/or taking a paddle boat ride.

You don't find places like this much. Its an old quarry turned into a massive public pool. It also has a real sand beach. Highly recommended, and quite unusual in this part of the country.
