The Rogue Theater in Tucson is a theatrical gem!! Housed in the historic Y, the design, architecture, and decor are so fascinating. The main building at The Historic Y was designed by Annie Graham Rockfellow to house the YWCA of Tucson and completed in 1930. But the best part is the Theater Team and the performances! The two performances we saw in February 2015, Waiting For Godot and The Four Quartets were some of best acting and directing we have experienced. Easily on par with any major cultural center. Our experience was only enhanced by the reception we received from the volunteers who support this Theater and Cindi Meier, Managing Director and Associate Athletic Director. At both of the performances that we attended, all attendees were meet by Cindi as if we all had a personal invitation from her and she was at the door to Welcome Us!! What a Unique and enjoyable event. The Theatrical Team is superb. And the acting was a joy to watch. The content of the two performances we watched was evocative, enlightening and enriching. The performances were unmatched. We only wish we were in Tucson longer to continue to take advantage of this cultural jewel. Thank You Rogue Theater!

Traveling to Tucson from Minneapolis to see a production at The Rogue has become a yearly event for me. I think of each trip not just as “attending a play” but “visiting a creative community.” That’s what the directors have accomplished over the years: they've assembled a creative community of artists and audiences who share their loves of language, drama, performance and ideas. I travel to see Rogue shows not only because of the high quality of material and performance offered, but also because I feel welcomed into that community to experience each show and know that I’ll be respected as an audience member. I love that the directors provide context to each show—but not in an academic way— welcoming audiences to engage with the cast and crew in after-show discussions that are smart, lively, thoughtful, and just long enough. I look forward to this year’s staging of Virginia Woolf stories. What better reason to get out of Minnesota winter for a few days?

Intimate setting for some stimulating theater with excellent performances. We are in our second year as season ticket holders. Prior to that we would attend an occasional play. The plays are consistently well acted and thought provoking. It is definitely helpful to have the discussions afterward to help one digest what was just experienced.

The Rogue productions are often provocative in a very good way, always well acted and staged. This is the only house in Tucson that seems to understand that its audience wants more than mere "plays" but wants to think, too.

The Rogue has a small, intimate theater which means there are no bad seats. Serious drama, classic plays, modern works, and comedies round out each season. Reasonable ticket prices.

Thank you for the kind words about our theatre. We are not, however, affiliated with the University of AZ in any formal sense. We are neighbors on University Boulevard, many students and faculty audition and are cast in our productions, and we have produced plays written by UA professors. And, of course, we happily count many UA staff, faculty and students among our patrons. We are glad you are excited about our 10th Season - so are we!

The Rogue is a theatre company to be proud of. Their premises may be a little rusty-dusty, but the performances are sparkling. Not only is there talent in acting and staging, but I truly value the adventurous, intelligent and thoughtful programming. Both the classics and newly-commissioned works provide rich feasts for mind and spirit. And wonderful post-show conversation, whether you stay for the chats with cast, or just go out for supper afterward with your companions. Don't miss The Rogue!

What I love about Rogue is that it is a small 'cozy' theatre in the round that puts on high quality productions. It's such a great alternative to dressing to the nines and going to the usual lined up rows of theatre seating. Get a seat near the front, and you feel like you are a voyeur or all but part of the production yourself. It's fun to be in close contact with the stage. For those who prefer a bit of distance, that's also available -- just choose a seat a few rows back from front. Either way, the sensation is more personal and emotionally involving for the audience.

What a cool theater! Kelley and I went to see Dante's Purgatorio written by Patrick Baliani and were blown away. The use of shadow gives the entire play an incredible perspective of really walking through the underworld. The actors are great and the play is as funny as it is intense. I urge everyone to go see the play before it ends this week!

Thank you for supporting The Rogue Theatre in Tucson. If you are able to see our production of Purgatorio, opening April 24, please let our office or will call staff know that you are one of our Trip Advisor friends. We'd like to thank you in person.

We've been season ticket holders at the Rogue for about five years and they regularly delight us with their choice of plays, the quality of the acting, the presentations, and their ability to stage wondrous works with very limited resources. We've had the tremendous pleasure of seeing Tom Stoppard's "Arcadia" and Harold Pinter's "Betrayal" in the past few months. They always present at least one Shakespeare play each season and they are constantly stretching themselves and their audience with interesting and challenging productions. Following each performance the cast and directors stay for a discussion with audience members.

Julie -Thank you for finding The Rogue on your recent visit to Tucson. Your review captured the spirit of what we are trying to do - giving actors space to interact with our community on important ideas. If you are able to return in April, please introduce yourself to a member of the Board ( at "will call") or the staff so we can thank you personally.
