What a great place! We live fairly locally and visit at least once a year. It is fantastic and we always come a way with a sense of having a great day. So educational and interesting. Everything from Nuclear Fission to Beam Engines, Toys to Fashion. What a place. It's a shame the Health and Safety Police have got to the fire creation exhibit. Using bellows and friction to light a real fire where the fire is replaced by a red bulb, a piece of orange cloth and a fan. Someone should stand up to these people! Equally - someone should stand up to Leicestershire County Council for allowing this place to close. I am quite sure LCC will find plenty of things that serve minorities and people that don't pay taxes to plough money into. Yes - Shame on you Leicestershire County Council is right.Snibston has so much to offer a broad range of people. It's fun, educational and interesting. The Colliery tour is a must and the headstocks and ancillary buildings are kept almost as though a shift will be starting tomorrow morning. Interesting yet eerie. The play ground is great too with interesing play equipment that continues the learning experience. Everything from gravity to balance with loads of fun to boot. We will try and visit as many times as we can this year to make the most of it before the Leicestershire County Council let us down again. That will be a very sad day.

I can understand why the County Council have decided not to fund this attraction any longer, with it closing during 2015. Whilst I'm sure the staff do their best, the science element of the attraction is tired and ill-maintained. I've had a season ticket and on numerous visits the same 'experiments' failed to work. The museum pieces are very good and will hopefully go to a new and well-deserving home. The water attraction outside needs lots of work to make it more attractive and fun. It's sad to see the place go, but the money from the council and visitors should have been better spent.

So having visited yesterday on the way back from a holiday on the south coast. The first thing I want to know is Why are the council closing Leicesters Best Visitor Attraction ?All the exhibits, things to do and staff were outstanding in all ways. Yes Bennie did look a little sad but I guess thats down to the bad winter we've just had. The colliery tour was also excellent, it was my 1st trip to Snibston in like 1 decade but I still think its great. Nigel the tour guide was excellent , especially with his very much younger 8 year old tour assistant who asked questions all the time. If the council need to close anything it is the council offices and reinvest in Snibston.I was at the museum for 3.5hrs but could easily of stayed longer, everything was affordable and the meals were really tasty.I hope to have the chance to revisit Snibston multiple times over the next Decade yes, if anyone has sense Snibston will be still open in the next 10 years, and I truly hope it will be.

Took my 4 grandchildren today, ages 6yrs to 10 yrs, and they absolutely loved it. We arrived just after 10am and reluctantly left as it closed at 3pm. It was declared the Best Museum they had ever visited and they have visited a few! I can't believe this wonderful museum is closing. Informative, lots of interactive exhibits, and scientific information. This museum really sparks a child's interest in science. For our future we should be encouraging museums like this not closing themShame on you LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Had a good visit as part of the Leicestershire Play and Stay.Great informative play suitable for children, they could play and find out for themselves. We loved the interactive and static displays too and again it made it all very accessible for children. We cannot understand why the council want to close this attraction????

This place is absolutely fabulous and it is tragic the council are closing it. Shame on them. We visited yesterday as a group of 10 (3 adults and 7 kids, 6-9 years) we were there 10.30am - 5pm so we had a very full day and the kids didn't want to come home. I have been bringing my kids here for years now, they absolutely love it. It is so clean and bringing your own food is encouraged which is such a refreshing change on days out as a family, the large indoor picnic areas are great and very clean. We usually meet with groups of friends and the kids play inside and out and never tire of the place, there is so much to do. The outside play area is very good and the water play is great when in operation (seasonal). Our season ticket expires this month and I want to renew it but sadly as the place will close at the end of July see little point. Our last visit will be a very sad day for us all as there is no where like this, we will continue to support Snibston until the bitter end. Staff are always a pleasure and a real asset. Let's hope the council see sense but in the meantime go, enjoy and support this place. You wont be disappointed.

We enjoyed what is likely to be our last visit to Snibston today, given confirmation that the council can no longer afford to keep it open and it will close on 31st July.In a county virtually bereft of attractions for families this has long been a stand out venue. Lots of interactive exhibits to keep children entertained and also educated, friendly staff and a really good café. We've been visiting regularly for many years and Snibston's closure will leave a huge hole in our school holiday itinerary.

Snibston combines a wonderful mixture of history, heritage, science, technology and fun to create a fabulous day out for the whole family. The staff are friendly and helpful and manage to maintain a cheerful outlook despite the very real threat to their jobs as the County Council plans to shut this valuable asset to our area.

This is an excellent museum, I have taken my kids several times and they always enjoy it. It contains a lot about local history especially mining and Palitoy (Action Man and Star Wars toys which are my era and favourite).Shame the council are closing it at the end of June 2015. Write to your local MP to protest.

We had a wonderful day at Snibston. The children- ages 2-10 years had so much fun. We were there for 5 hours and only left because it was closing for day. Indoor picnic area was fab but the food at the cafe looked lovely and healthy too at reasonable prices. Kids loved the outdoor play area. The interactive displays inside were brilliant- so many!! Staff very helpful and friendly. We will return.

We spent a very happy 5 hours here and had to drag the kids away at closing time. A big space to run around, powering their imagination to be coal miners, bus drivers etc. Loads of hands-on activities and very friendly, helpful staff. We all loved the retro-gaming; brought back happy memories of playing ping pong as a kid.It would be a crying shame if the council closed this gem.

Took the grandchildren here for half term. They and we thoroughly enjoyed the time. Great exhibits and activities. The hands on exhibits certainly took their interest, especially lifting up the mini. We spent a couple of hours enjoying the activities inside and then enjoyed the train ride and playground. The indoor picnic area was a bonus. I can't believe the council want to close it down! It's a travesty. It's a MUST place to visit ... and not expensive!

we were here as part of a stay play explore package and had visited the space centre the day before. This in comparison to the larger attraction was excellent. The activities were immediately accessible, quickly showed the children what was happening and why. Short explanations provided with longer passages for those who wanted then accompanied all areas. We enjoyed lifting a Mini and playing in a tornado! The toy museum was amusing and fascinating to those who remembered the items and those who couldn't beIieve that we played with it once!Shame the fashion museum is full of manakins (personal dislike) although beautifully presented.Reasonable shop for a museum of this size. Cafe was good and had a good range of lunch and snack items.Well done For presenting a part of our industrial history in such a way to interest everyone. I would recommend this to everyone if all ages, abilities and levels of interest.
