Love the swiss mountains. Laax just has it all - for boarders, skiers, party or with the family :) And all this just 75min from Zurich away.

After travelling to a couple of different resorts in Switzerland I was feeling a little isolated as a snowboarder. This is not the case in LAAX. Aside from the fact there are half a dozen snowparks for all levels to play around in, the general atmosphere of the resort was a bit more laid back and casual. It's easy to around between LAAX and Flims either riding or shuttle bus. When there is fresh snow it's epic! Watch out for avalanches if you go off piste.

We always love to go to Laax to snowboard. The pists are alway perfect. A lot of choice to eat/Drink, spectacular views, good ambiance without après ski Halli Galli.

The best snowpark in Europe with a huge halfpipe, lots of options for on piste and if it is dumping, great freeride areas. The blue tracks are easy but with flat areas, so I would rather pick a red one than to take off the board in some parts. Also you need to learn the tracks, as there are some up and down areas where you need to get a good speed in order to get "on top of the next hop".If you are more of a freerider and there is fresh snow it is worth to try the yellow track under the Plaun chairlift (from Sogn Gion to Plaun on the left side) or from top of Mutta Rotonda down to Scasinas and then the yellow track to Plaun. We also had the chance to go up to Cassons. I understood that is is rarely open. It is a full freeride land and the experience of being on top of the world is worth the effort. Yet, it is not an easy descend and you better be confident in your skills to go down without your heart "pumping".

I went here with my girlfriend in February 2015. Its a massive resort with lots of long runs. It was slightly expensive but that's what you can expect in Switzerland. It was very empty and we barely ever had to queue for a lift. The runs were long and open and there were a number of snow parks for people who like that. Definitely recommended.

Spanning several peaks and valleys served by 3 different cities. I've been skiing here at least 4 times. Once launching from Falera, twice from Flims, once from Laax. This area is so large that depending on which village you embark from you it can be hard to try to reach the whole mountain. What I like best about shape of the mountain is that there are plenty of free skiing areas that lie conveniently between the groomed pistes. Which can be just a little bit harrowing. there are some cliffs and craggy drops in the innocent looking areas between the broad boulevards. longer post with pictures at http://stringgirl.blogspot.com/2015/02/laax-would-truly-take-many-more-days-to.html

We were a group of 9 guys who have been a lot of places in Europe skiing. We had varied snow conditions. We had a brilliant time. Beautiful views, great facilities, some new gondolas, on mountain restaurants were exceptional, varied terrain (last day was only powder rinds from the gondola ... No one else around off-piste - the Michael Shumacher effect?). Very easy for transport - train : bus is only 2hrs from Zurich airport. The fondue at Gandis ane the amazing pizzas at Camini are worth the trip alone. I would recommend it and will be coming back.

Last season they added quite a few new pistes. One in particular (a blue run) from the top takes you to an innovative new chairlift which tilts to the side as it moves out of the station to give you stunning views of the mountains. There is something here for everyone.

Very divers ski area, ideal for snowboarders and of course skiers as well. Gets pretty bussy at the weekends but during the week short lines at lifts.

Glasier is nice if its not too windy. A lot of pistes were closed occasionally. Expensive place. Not too many restaurants and all filled with people. There were not enough challenging pistes.

It's a big ski area with almost all facilities you need for a ski holiday but starting with the price of 74 CHF for a 1-day pass you could expect more than antique ski lifts and boring slopes. In our vacation we missed the willing of the staff to prepare as much slopes as possible instead of saving money in a quite time. Also the area is too expensive at all and comparing with other resorts around the world the Swiss don't offer anything special which would justify this. To give you an example look at their Nordic ski offering. They charge 9CHF for one day but to get to the loipe you also have to pay 30 CHF for the cable car or 18 CHF for the bus. The return you get is a 2.5 or 6km medium prepared loipe which is a real ripoff !

This is a superb ski resort, probably because everything is run by one company! The lifts are well connected to the whole mountain so you can ski down from the top of Vorab Glacier to the lift station. The slopes are wide and well groomed. I personally loved most of the runs except the red one down from Crap Sogn Gion to Plaun which was overrun with moguls (I hate moguls). The mountain restaurants are oh-so-good! And the food in the self-service retaurants at Nagens, Crap Sogn Gion and Vorab is really good. We used the ski school and the ski rental as well and found them to be much better than at other places we have skied at (Chamonix, Niseko). The only problem is the expense -- much more expensive lift passes, rentals as well as ski lessons. Oh well, you can't have it all!

We arrived after noon, and the weather was not good! We payed full price, and then took the lift up. Several pistes was closed, and when we wanted to go up again we where told, that all pistes was closed.

Good early season skiing at the top, although it takes a while to get to the top, it's worth it when you get there.

Flims Laax Falera is very big area 200+km in Surselva but little known by foreigners. Mainly swiss families there.Large varuety of well prepared pistes, perfect links between areas so you can really travel all day long. Good for snowboarders, many off-piste options. Modern skilifts. Also for me Surselva is the really "heart" of Switzerland. Calm and quiet. At the same time you can visit good Obersaxen and Briegels areas nearby.Small cons: rather high cost of the ski pass and accommodation, southern orientation of the pistes which can be a problem if the weather is warm. For me it is one of the best areas in Swiss.
