I was amazed to find this little treasure in Petra.It has been well preserved. The paintings etc are still very beautiful and the carvings.

A trip back in time , very interesting look at different architecture and a past way of life. Not a huge amount to see but worth the €2 to read about the history and a different culture.

While touring the small and very narrow back roads of Petra,we found this important house and visited it.Just half an hour will be ok to see in and out of this very nice house.Strongly recommended to pay a visit to this hidden building complex in the heart of Petra market.

The house is a wonderful time capsule of life in the Ottoman era in Greece. The wall painting are very fine and the locl people who take a turn on the door are very helpful and friendly.But it lacks information and could have more interactive material. I'd happily do it for the village for nothing - just ask!

You can't go wrong stopping in here - it wasn't expensive to get in - about 4 Euro. It doesn't take long to look around and it is beautiful and interesting. If you stay in Petra you're sure to pass by several times so why not one of those times just stop and take a look inside?

A interesting piece of history for those interested in this particular time period. I would have loved a guided tour in order to make the story and subject more compelling. My company who is not a history nerd like me thought the house was rather boring. I think this place need a guided tour to make it come alive. Cheap entrance fee 2 euro.

It's worth a visit to get a feeling of how the rich lived in comparison to others in 18th century Petra. Entry is only 2euros and this helps ruuning costs nice painting on ceilings

nice but not like panagia you can see things but it is but because you pay it must be free.but it is good nice and very clean.

For me the Vareltzidaina`s House it was good but not like panagia Glykofilousa you must go nice thinks to see to Vareltzidena`s House.

This house is characteristic of the rich houses bult in the late 18th - early 19th century, offering us a glimpse of how it used to be living in it.Rich in its simplicity though, we were charmed by the ceiling decoratings, so interesting and live!It took its name by the last habitant of the house, Mrs Vareltzi, who died in the age of 100, in1940.The entrance is 2 euros, every day except Monday and it's a pitty to lose a visit here.

beautifully preserved, a visit to the house takes you back to another era. its atmospheric rooms, simply decorated and furnished give you a vivid picture of life in petra in another age.

It's quite easy to miss this superb house when walking around the back streets of Petra, as indeed we had for the first few days in the resort. There's small plaque on the outside wall and that's it. We visited at the end of our first week in Petra, admission is just €2 and for this, we were treated to a beautifully restored 18th century house, complete with much of the furniture that would have graced it back in those days.The ground floor is just two large rooms and these were used mainly for storage. The first floor is accessed via a wooden staircase which opens out into a large central floor area, around which several rooms are laid out, these being where the occupants lived, ate and slept. It is the house of a wealthy person, there's no doubt about that. The walls are decorated with fine carvings, murals and frescoes, the benches, which also doubled up as beds, are covered with expensive fabrics. The ceilings are hand-carved and ornate and the two front rooms have balconies which extend outwards beyond the footprint of the building.Once inside, most of the noise from the village is excluded, and this makes it easier to take in all that is on show. As with many of the island's top sights, when we visited, we were the only people there, so we were able to see into every nook and crannie. The upstairs rooms are not open to visitors, but they are only barred by a rope so it's easy to see inside without any obstructions.We spent half an hour inside looking around and would recommend this lovely house as a "must see" to anyone who visits Petra.

Het is leuk om te zien hoe mensen uit een bepaald mileu vroeger gewoond hebben. Huis is goed gerenoveerd.

Alleen de buitenzijde van dit gebouw maakt je zo nieuwschierig om eens een kijkje te gaan nemen binnenin, het is absoluut een bezoekje waard!
