Gauranteed snow and fabulous ski school for kids, this is the second time we have skied at the Stubai Gletscher and having children age 6 and 8 it is the most perfect resort and we will definitely return next year.

Visited the week before Christmas and wasn't expecting such great skiing. Plenty of choice and good eateries for lunch. The snow wasn't very good at the time but the pistes were in good condition. We got the free hotel bus from Innsbruck at 8:50 which left the glacier at 4:30. Great bar at the bottom of the piste. We bought the passes from the tourist office in Innsbruck.

Even with a "low snow" year, the glacier had excellent coverage, varied terrain and a great place to snack between runs. A must do when snowboarding the Austrian Alps!! Was 1 of 3 chaperones on a HS student ski/boarding group and all are in agreement...

Good cafés etc if you can get there before the mad over confident numpties get there . Witnessed one family allowing 5-7 year old to head straight down a red run and cut up at least 5 people . Adults "in charge " thought it was funny . None of the pisteurs were interested ! Just shrugged . Hope he didn't come a cropper . In France it would have been monitored I think . Lots of out of control skiers . Fast is great but not when out of control shoulder twisting skiers do it . Pistes well prepared . Run down good . New 6 chair -heated lovely .

Huge ski area. Very inexpensive to ski here compared to the US. Pick a clear day to avoid flat lighting conditions as this ski area is at a higher elevation and visibility can be challenging.

We have just spent 4 days with two children, who never tried skiing before. For families, this place is fantastic. The overall organisation and facilities of the place are really impressive. The glacier parking is 45 minutes drive from Innsbruck and in the morning (around 8-9am) and I never experienced traffic jams. When one arrives, there is a large parking area and shuttle buses take you to the cable car even though it is less than one km from the farthest parking. To buy a daily ski pass I never had to wait more than one minute as many cashiers were open and most people seemed to have a ski pass already. To go up to station Gamsgarten we had to queue, once max 30 minutes (between 9-10am). However, once we were up, I never had to queue more than max 3-4 minutes in any of the ski lifts. In fact, most of the time I never queued for anything (including renting and catering), which was great with small children. There are 3 InterSport shops in the different stations, where one can rent all the necessary equipments. We did the rent in Intersport at the Gamsgarten station. Very fast and well organised renting process (like on a conveyor belt in a factory) for the whole family. As a result all four of us were equipped and ready to ski within 40 minutes (including registering, measuring , fitting up ski and paying). I was really impressed how fast it was done, especially considering that we were not the only one renting. It is possible to rent lockers as well (in addition to storing the rented ski) so we did not need to carry anything uphill daily, which was great. Once equipped, we were heading to the "big family" skiing area where parents can ski together with the children and teach them on a small slopes. This area has four magic carpets (3 for the ski camp and one separate for individuals) so small children can go up fast and spend most of their time learning how to slide down. There are many skiing schools, however the beginner course starts at 10am so you have to be there before if you want to leave the children with the instructors. In the lunchtime, you can choose restaurant or self service, where the food is surprisingly good quality. When children finally get bored/tired you can leave them in the kindergarten so parents can head for "real" skiing on the difficult slopes, which were more than we could try during four days (bearing in mind that we spent half a day with children). The slopes and shops close between 4-4:30pm and you need to get down from the glacier before it gets dark. In the Eisgrat station we visited the ice cave, which was interesting and not too long to walk around. There is a nice observation deck (Top of Tyrol), which is accessible using the Schaufeljoch cable car, so you do not necessarily need to have your ski on i.e. you can also walk around with children between different stations. To sum up, I will definitely go again and I can highly recommend the place for families. You only need sunny weather for a perfect family skiing holiday :-)

be aware of the very low temperatures on a glacier as well as the icy conditions. The piste are excellent and well worth the trip.

Already 3 times there and still very satisfied. This is one of the best glacier ski resort in Austria. You can find all kind of slopes. Suitable for beginners with with blue slopes as well as for advanced skiiers. Nice services, you can rent ski and equipent directly at the glacier so no need to take everything with you. Friendly staff ready to help you.

We had just wonderful weather for all the four days of our visit in February 2015. It was sunny, absolutely clear sky and quite warm. Despite this, the snow was very well prepared and did not change much during the day. All pistes were open. There were many tourists, parking areas were full every day, however, the complex is so big that one almost does not notice such amount of people, they just spread around, so that skiing is very comfortable.

Snow okay, but full of polish speaking loud like they qonquer the ski slops for the first time. Every way you turn, could not notice their primates behavior. Wildlife in action, at the best.

Excellent slopes and runs, limited number of hostelries on the slopes. Found the travelling between Neustift and Stubaier a bit of a pain on the bus. Apart from the aforementioned, very good experience.

The ski area starts at about 2000 metres and rises to 3300 at the top. In good weather it makes for excellent skiing with fantastic views. However we had several days with high winds and poor visibility which with the temperature of minus 18 made skiing difficult. However there is enough skiing for all levels from beginner to advanced and the lift system is very efficient with little queueing. We hired lockers at the glacier to make things easier as our hotel was in Neustift. In summary, good place to ski but difficult in bad conditions

There is nothing better than skiing on fresh snow on the Stubaier Glacier with the sun shining on your face. An absolute must!!!
