Relying on Satnav we got lost on the York to Crevantes road, so much so we ended up heading south and found ourselves on the Tin Horse Highway is well worth a drive through - plenty to look at and good fun too. It certainly made us laugh, stopping to take photos and generally cheering ourselves up realising we were 200kms in the wrong direction.

Well worth the minor detour if you’re on your way too or from Wave Rock. Running through the small town of Kulin and far beyond are dozens of equine themed artworks created by local farmers. They come in all shapes, sizes, colours and themes and most are easily viewed from the road. You’ll probably find yourself wanting to pull over to have a closer look at some and take photographs and fortunately the road is usually sufficiently quiet to safely permit this. You can admire the sporting prowess of, among others, Rocky the Italion Stallion, Fillypoosis and Usain Colt. Oh yes, the puns are rife. Factoring in an extra hour onto your journey should give you enough time to complete the detour and make a few stops to check out your favourites. And it’s all free! What more could you ask for?

We were really impressed by who many local people have been involved including some nice displays in Kulin and along the Tin Horse Highway, a great credit to the locals.

We drove to Kulin for one reason only - The Tin Horse Highway.There is quite a lot of creativity here with varying poses and dioramas. If the road is quite you can slow down to get better pictures but it's a main road so be careful.Really great thing to explore if you are in the area.

All very interesting lots of tin horses around town, follow the highway for full viewing. Interesting characters relating to things around town.

I enjoy these statues, which remain year-round.Be aware that the highway is split across two roads out of Kulin. I think the official Tin Horse Highway is the Kulin-Lake Grace Road, but there are also a few good ones on the Corrigin-Kulin Road.

While traveling from Corrigin Via Kulin to Wave rock you can venture thru the open fields of the Tin Horse Highway where you will see Tin Horses created by locals

Early October is Kulins Annual Bush Race.We drove from Perth and stayed over in Corrigan at the Windmill motel as we didn't fancy camping for two nights at the race track.The drive to the races along the tin horse highway was really entertaining ,although we were stopping every five minutes to snap another photo.The Tin Horse statues that patrol the nearby fields are very amusing and inventive.It makes for an enjoyable drive.The actual races run all day with a family friendly programme alongside the fixtures.Our kids enjoyed making masks and wands,playing in the giant sand pile with diggers,and learning circus skills,Dad enjoyed walking up the Jilikin rock and the sheep racing.I enjoyed the home made cream scones,the local wine and the live bands.Everyone loved the amazing fish and chips and puzzled on how they could be so damm good that far inland,until the man serving pointed out the enormous great lake behind me.It all ended up with an huge bonfire and some brilliant fireworks.A memorable day out for everyone.Next year it's the 20th anniversary so I bet it will extra special.

We have just spent the 3 most delightful days in the Kulin region camping in a hired campervan at the Kulin Bush Races. it's dusty if it hasn't rained, it's muddy if its been raining, lucky for us, it's was a lovely sunny 24c each day. the races are a fun, the entertainment is excellent, the food is typical of country style cooking, delicious and plentiful. Great place for the kids, amenities are basic, but that's ok for 3 days. Well worth the visit and the drive along the Tin Horse highway. All the locals have made "tin horses" out of scrap metal, and they are hilarious, with the pun on words with the names is great. Definite photo worthy opportunity.

What a fantastic initiative this is! I first heard about it through a paper at the Museums Australia conference in 2011, and vowed that I would one day see it, and I'm so very glad that I did!The sculptures vary in quality, but they are all clever and lots of fun - some are even wonderful pieces of art in their own right. I had to keep pulling over every few hundred metres to take another photo of a new sculpture!It is well worth a trip, and can be easily combined with a visit to Wave Rock and other attractions in the regions.

Well we have been going to Kulin now for 3 years via the Tin Horse Hwy, to spend a few days. While we are there we go to the Kulin Bush Races, of which on the day about 4-5 thousand people turn up to have a fun day. The Memorial Service for the Vets is a very moving experience on the Saturday morning of the Races, a must do. All the towns in our rural area do need people to come and visit and spend time and money, it is a great time of the year so get off your comfortable chair and visit and also see all our beautiful wild flowers that are all over the the State. I am from the city but i do love our country towns. So visit everyone?????

holdayed in corrigin for three weeks january 2013. visited somewhere different each day in a hundred mile radius. discovered tin horse highway what a gem of a journey cant wait for next year. found out today there is a book published called Much More Than Metal all about the amazing creations. must try and source a copy.well done folks of kulin. pure magic.

do not miss driving the Tin Horse Highway. The humour of the cockies out that way is brilliant. No photo's as you will have to go and look for your self. Friends had told me about these horses, built from 44 gallon drums and other scraps and said I must drive the Tin Horse Highway. So glad we did, different horses in different poses along about 42km. My thanks to the farmers and Kulinites that did this, I love your sense of humour

We had a lovely journey looking at all the creative Tin horses along the way. I understand that originally they were only on the hwy east of Kulin; but now friendly rivalry between East and West has started, with farmers west of Kulin getting creative too ..look out for the "West Kulin Whoppa".Sure it made our journey to Esperance longer and less direct but it was fun. It would also be great if you had kids in the car.We were in Kulin at lunch time and had a nice snack and coffee at a cafe inside the Mitre 10 store...the clue was all the locals coming out with takeaway coffees, etc. Very friendly staff and very clean.

On a drive through the Wheatbelt. Good fun to look at all the different horse sculptures! Breaks up the journey with something to look at.
